So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

Practical and Stylish Handbags for School

By Jay Daniels

Backpacks are usually the norm as schoolbags. They are usually large enough to put in books and other necessities for school. Backpacks are also easy to carry around. They can make a hunchback out of you though when it gets very bulky. Fortunately for girls, they have handbags to turn to.

Using one as a schoolbag can be both practical and fashionable. Of course, its practicality depends on the handbags design, size and the material it is made of.

Handbags that are sealed by zippers are good to use because you can be sure that the small items such as keys, pens, pencils, rulers and the like are kept securely inside. Drawstrings can also be great, as long as the things you keep in it are larger school materials such as books and binders. Smaller objects can easily fall through if a drawstring handbag is not properly positioned as you set it down. The same goes with handbags with clasps. Although if they have inner pockets with zippers, then your problem is solved.

A handbag is ideal as a school bag if 3 textbooks can fit inside it. This means that there is sufficient space for other school necessities. But this will also depend on the number of things you need to bring along. Obviously a small purse-like handbag will only hold a few things such as a cell phone and wallet. A very large handbag roughly the size of a small sack is also hardly practical. Not only will it be more of a burden it will also make you look foolish.

Style should come hand in hand with quality. Leather handbags fit this description nicely because they are durable and sophisticated. Lately, transparent plastic handbags are setting a trend. They are in fact suitable as schoolbags too, as long as they have well sewn seams and the quality of the plastic is good. A more usual material for handbags is denim. Since they are usually in blue, black and white they are very casual and considered acceptable in a school setting. Handbags made from cotton can also be used as schoolbags, but if they get wet then the things inside most certainly will be as well so great care must be taken when using them.

What is important to remember in selecting a handbag for school is that practicality should equal your fashion requirement. Do not just choose a handbag for its color and design. Think about the things that you will have to put in your bag and if it will be sturdy enough to hold all of them.

It will be very embarrassing if your bag suddenly breaks at the seams and spills all your things at the middle of the school grounds. You will definitely be in the limelight, but not in a graceful manner. That's why it is very important to choose handbags which are not only stylish but also sturdy.

Acne Myths......Fact Or Fiction?

By Barry Crewse

Time has come to clear some of the rubble surrounding the cause and cure of acne. You see, misinformation will only lead you down the path of frustration and discouragement. You will never receive the radiant skin you so desire based on hearsay and snake oil. Misinformation is everywhere. I shudder at some of the things I read online or even hear within my own peer groups. Maybe you have heard and read about them to so keep reading and lets get to the bottom of it all. Remember, knowledge is power and power will help you end the breakouts!

1. The Old Soap And Water Theory

Back when I was a kid I can't tell you how many times I heard that one. I was convinced that if you just scrubbed your skin off...viola! A great complexion. Truth is acne only gets worse the more you scrub. It does eliminate dirt and bacteria.....and that is important but in the end it only lead to dry, cracked, irritated skin that will open you up to infection and a worse crop of acne.

Remember, over production of sebum is the main culprit behind the zit problem. It is essential that you keep your skin clean and dry as this will help you in your battle over acne. Always try and wash your face twice daily and pat dry with a soft towel. Be aware of the soap you are using. The skin on your face is very sensitive and even a mild reaction to harsh cleansers will have a negative effect. If you are looking for products that are gentle on your skin I will be posting a review and recommendation page shortly. I will explore all types of products, treatments, and remedies. My reviews will remain completely unbiased and non sponsored. I will be spilling the beans on whether my research reveals as to their effectiveness. Come back often or better yet subscribe to my RSS feed. See how all those products you see advertised hold up under scrutiny.

2. Chocolate Gives Me Pimples!

Again, I have head this one for as long as I can remember. Coca Cola, most fried foods and pizza fall into this one as well.

First off, we are all genetically different. What affects one will not affect another. Chocolate happens to be very high in fat and sugar. Some people will attribute that to acne. At this point in time there are absolutely no studies that point to food as a cause of acne. NONE except this one exception and that is milk. Particularly low fat milk and mainly in pregnant or menopausal women. Most researchers agree that hormones and other additives in cows milk may be the main cause. Studies are ongoing as of this writing. Could chocolate be a link in a chain that causes acne in some people. Maybe. I think it has more to do with genetics and don't go and confuse food allergies to acne. Minor allergic reactions can mimic the symptoms of acne. There have been some indigenous cultures in times past who have never had a case of acne across their entire population line. Did diet play a role? Studies have been inconclusive thus far and I can tell you that the Hershey bar in my pantry will not survive the night!

3. Popping Pimples Makes Them Go Away Faster

This myth present a couple of problems. First popping the zit will get rid of the pus, relieve the pressure and swelling and make the zit appear smaller. Something we all want right? Remember the finger and bacteria thing I mentioned earlier? Second, most people apply way to much pressure. They squeeze and pinch until they make their face bleed. All they have accomplished is more tissue damage and help spread the infection all over their face. If you can use a sterile needle and disinfecting wipes you will usually heal faster. Not doing it this way will only make it worse. The bad news is that most people do not do it the right way so health care professional try and discourage treating acne in this fashion.

4. Tanning Helps Clear My Skin

The fact is that the sun in very harsh on your skin especially if you are over exposed. The sun can cause premature aging, skin cancer and a host of other problems. It can actually lead to increased outbreaks of acne. Always try to use what is called nonacnegenic SPF sunscreen before venturing into the sun for prolonged periods of time. More on nonacnegenic's will be posted on my products page.

5. Makeup Will Give You Acne

Long ago there may have been a bit of truth to this. I suspect it was more an irritant than a cause though. Today there are tons of nonacnegenic makeup on the market that are designed to be kind and gentle to your face. Using them properly should prevent any kind of acne problem. Some brands even contain popular over the counter ingredients used to fight acne and also serve to conceal your acne as well. If you suffer from moderate to severe acne you should consult with your health care professional about the use of makeup until you achieve some level of suppression. Generally speaking, makeup does not in any way cause acne.

6. More Medication Means Quicker Healing

Nothing could be further from the truth. Acne medications use powerful drying agents. Overuse of these medications will result in dry irritated skin. That will result in a worse case of acne. Be especially careful if you are taking oral medications. That could be dangerous! It can take a couple of months before you see results taking oral medications so have patience. If your topical medication is not working to your satisfaction try something else. There are lots of alternatives. Something will work for you. One more thing. Do not stop taking your prescribed mediation early because you think your acne is gone. This could lead to a recurrence that may be worse in the long run.

7. Sex Causes Acne

Don't believe It. This myth can be traced all the way back to the 1700's. It was spread about to try and discourage teenagers from hooking up. Can you imagine how many innocent teens were persecuted for having a raging case of acne back then! Although it is true that hormones play a prominent role in acne it has absolutely nothing to do with sexual activity.

Well, there you have it. The acne Myth Busters. I hope I have answered some of your questions and have given you information that will help you in your quest for beautiful skin.

Home Staging and Real Estate Sales - A Winning Combination

By John Mann

Home staging training has been teaching realtors how to sell homes faster for over twenty years. Studies have shown effective staging training can increase the success rate of even the most accomplished realtor. This translates into a quick sale which is better for both you the realtor and the homeowner.

Home staging training has become a recognized tool that most realtors should acquire if they want to reach their specified sales goals. But not many people have the time to go back to school or for weeks of night classes. One of the great things about this training is that it's offered online which gives you the flexibility of working around your schedule.

The competition among realtors is often fierce so you'll want to gain any advantage you can. Using the skills you picked up during the training will make the homes your showing stand out among your competitors. Most realtors will tell you that marketing and presentation are two of the most important skill you can have and home staging only enhances them.

Curb appeal is a major factor in getting a home sold, just ask any realtor. The exterior of a home is the first thing that a potential buyer sees. The saying that you don't get a second chance to make a first impression is true. The same can be said for the inside of the home as well since the way you live in your home is completely different than the way you market your home.

By combining her knowledge of realty and interior design Barb Schwartz developed what became known as home staging. Over two decades ago she came up with step by step plan for selling homes utilizing some basic principles of design and marketing.

Basically, there are three major rules to home staging training and they are clean, clutter-free, and color. You'll want to make sure the house is completely spotless including the drapes and every nook and cranny you can find. Noticeable dust and dirt in a home is a real turn-off to a potential buyer. The second rule involves removing the clutter from the home including all unnecessary furniture. You'll just want to keep a few key pieces to give the home a lived-in feel.

The second rule stresses that clutter can often make a home seem smaller and detract from the floor plan and flow of the home. By applying the simple rule of less is more by removing most of the furniture. Select just a few key pieces to give the home a natural feel.

The courses available on home staging training will teach all you need to know and earn you the title of an accredited home staging professional. Once you learn the tricks of the trade, you'll see results that will make anyone smile.

Figuring out Whether or not a Used Car has been wrecked

By Rex Curtis Bush, Attorney at Law, Doctor of Jurisprudence

Buying a used car can be a scary proposition. Year after year people unknowingly purchase cars that have been involved in major collisions. It's all too easy for underhanded auto rebuilders to quickly fix up these vehicles and resell them, all too often glossing over important maintenance and safety issues.

In many cases, when a vehicle has been totaled so that the cost to fix it is greater than its value, an insurance company will declare the vehicle a total loss. The owner is typically paid a sum equal to the pre-collision value of the car, and the car may be sold at a salvage auction. In other cases, the owner may be able to keep the totaled vehicle. In either case, there are unscrupulous car owners (whether they purchased the vehicle at auction or are the original owner) who quickly patch up these vehicles and try to turn a profit on them by selling them at full price.

Even if you take a close look, you may not be able to tell that it has originally sustained major damage. You won't always see this on the title either, so it's important to find out before you decide to buy it. So keep yourself guarded and do the appropriate research. Here are a few examples below:

1. Check the title of the vehicle. Not every salvaged vehicle will have a notation on the title; in some cases band-aid repairs are done on the sly without a report being issued. But the title is the first place to check. If you see phrases like "scrap," "parts only," "unsalvageable," or "un-rebuildable" then you are dealing with a vehicle that's been involved in a major accident.

You can check the vehicle's title by utilizing the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS). This database lets you enter a VIN number to instantaneously check the title and odometer reading of an automobile and find out whether it was ever declared a total loss or reported stolen. This government service is available in most states, and more states are continually adding this service. You can visit the NMVTIS website at nmvtis.gov.

Have Someone Inspect It- Okay, so we don't want you to have your next door neighbor come out and inspect it. However, if they are certified in collision repair then they would be a wise choice. They'll be able to identify the signs of a previously wrecked vehicle.

3. Ask the seller outright whether the vehicle has ever been in an accident. There are no guarantees that the seller will be truthful, but this way you can avoid a lie by omission. Some people won't offer the information, but will be truthful if you ask.

Get a History Report- Anytime anyone purchases a vehicle, they should get a Carfax or AutoCheck report. They will offer all the red flags that dig into a vehicle's past. However, just because a report is clean doesn't necessarily mean it hasn't been wrecked. In the end, not all problems are reported to the state licensing agencies.

Just make sure you're as thorough as possible when researching a vehicle. All the tips we've given you today should help you get an inside look at the history behind the car you're interested in buying. In order to keep yourself safe, document all your research and conversations you have along the way. If there are any issues you'll already be able to present a case if it goes to court.
