So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

How To Apply Feng Shui At Home

By Constance Sanders

Considered by many to be the most ancient form of decorating, feng shui takes ancient Chinese principles and applies them to the way that you arrange the furniture throughout your home. The theory behind feng shui is that every single object gives off an energy, which is called its "chi." That chi will flow throughout the room and entire living space, affecting the people within that space in very specific ways. Learning how to arrange the room so that the chi is at its optimal performance level is important.

In today's culture, feng shui has been heavily watered down and adapted to a pop culture sensation. Most of the nuances of the practice have been forgotten and this can often cause this art to fail miserably. Considering that this practice is something which has been developing for many thousands of years, one can be assured that the true practice of feng shui is something delicate. Instead, parts are seemingly chosen at random to give today's feng shui the accessibility which it seems to have acquired.

True feng shui will deal with very tiny details to help a person learn more about chi and the way it flows. To truly practice feng shui in a home, a person should either spend their time making a professional study out of it or they should hire a professional feng shui decorator. Neither of these options is always possible, however, often leaving a person to practice feng shui on their own. Thankfully, when applying oneself to the most basic principles of feng shui, they can make a lasting effect in their living space.

The most crucial point in Feng Shui is the power of instincts. Trusting your inner feelings will make you aware of the energy flowing in the room. Have you ever had an experience where you knew something was not right but you just couldn't put your fingers on it? You didn't know exactly why and how but you could feel it. In an informal term, you smelled something fishy! That's the same for determining the chi in the room. You feel ill at ease, something is wrong even if things look okay. Therefore, your instinct is giving you a warning sign. The flow of chi is blocked causing negative energy in the room.

The specifics of the room are important as well. Does the area rug that you have laid as the foundation for the floor work well? Are the colors off? Do they enhance the room or are they too loud and garish or too vapid and dull? Do the textures not mesh well with the rest of the room? An area rug can be an element which makes the entire room welcoming and friendly or can make the room feel completely unfriendly and sterile. Playing with the possibility of using an area rug should be important to anyone looking for a great balance of chi.

Feng Shui is not a requirement for all homeowners. Implementing this practice is a choice. Then again, there's no rule that condemns people who are using this in their home or office. Our decorating approach may or may not work. The important thing is we learn from whatever mistakes and never forget the right things we did. Our goal is to have a comfy and warm place to come home to, as well as to welcome guests to a place where they can immediately feel at ease.

Classic Car Insurance Tips

By Graham McKenzie

A classic car is a sizeable investment. You need to protect that investment by making sure the car is properly insured. The coverage you need will depend on how you use the car.

There are three types of car insurance. Actual cash value is the most common type of car insurance. It pays out the depreciated book value of the car. Stated value allows the car's owner to state a value for the vehicle that is greater than the actual cash value. Agree value guarantees the car's owners will get all of their money back in the event that the car is a total loss.

These types of insurance are offered through a standard insurance provider. The owner of a classic car should also consider a classic car insurance policy. These policies can be cheaper and less restrictive than a standard car insurance policy. Some classic car insurance policies require the driver to be 25 years or older. Some programs even require the driver be at least 30 years old. Classic car insurance programs could also limit the amount of driving you do to 2,500 miles or less a year. Annual odometer readings could also be required. The insurance provider will give you specific information on what requirements need to be met in order to insure your classic car.

Whether you choose a standard car insurance policy or a classic car insurance policy, make sure you find an insurance policy with flexible usage guidelines. You want to make sure the car insurance policy is flexible enough to meet your needs while providing adequate coverage to protect your investment. Many insurance providers offer mileage programs for classic cars, which tend to be driven less than other vehicles. Some programs will allow the driver to drop down their premium if they only drive the classic car a certain number of months a year. This is an option to consider if you keep the classic car in storage for part of the year.

When the time rolls around to get your vehicle insured, do some comparison shopping. First, be sure your agent has experience with classic cars. You want to get the coverage you need, but you do not want to pay for expensive options that you do not. Make sure you get more than one quote. Compare coverage and premiums and see which company really offers you the very best deal. Just be sure the policy meets your needs, not the needs of some hypothetical classic car fan. It's never a good plan to go for the cheapest policy only to find out later you weren't covered.

Regardless of what type of car insurance policy interests you, make sure you work with a qualified insurance provider. They can look at your exact situation and recommend the insurance product that will best suit your specific needs and protect your classic car investment the way it should be protected.

Get The BBQ Season Started

By Byron Jonas

For many people, summertime means one thing only: the kickoff of BBQ season. The warm summer weather gives us a chance to take our cooking to the backyard and the perfect reason to invite friends and family to gather together. There seems to be something about grilling food over an open flame that somehow makes everything taste better; plus it's just more fun cooking outside. Here are some simple ideas to make your backyard BBQ one to remember.

One of the most important things to consider in order to ensure your backyard soiree goes off without a hitch is bug control. Nothing turns a festive event into a pest-filled nightmare faster than a swarm of ants or mosquitoes crashing the party. The best defense against mosquitoes is to strategically place several repellent candles and torches in the BBQ proximity. Try to keep food covered as much as possible with plastic wrap or tupperware containers to keep ants away. If you can dedicate a covered area to be your serving area, this will also be a big help in terms of keeping bugs to a minimum.

In terms of menu planning, consider first which beverage options you will be offering to your guests. Although the grill might be getting all the attention during the BBQ, having a nice assortment of beverages available will keep your guests happy, especially on those really hot summer days.

The best thing to do is to have options that will please everyone. For example, provide both a red and white wine option, a few beer choices, and of course have plenty of non-alcoholic beverages on hand. If you are feeling extra adventurous, consider serving up a refreshing mixed drink or frozen cocktail, guaranteed crowd-pleasers, especially during the summertime. It is also a good idea to plan ahead and make sure you have plenty of ice stocked up; there is nothing worse than running out of ice on a hot, sweltering day.

One of the advantages of the BBQ is the variety of foods that you can prepare with simple ingredients and still get extremely flavorful results. Especially if you are expecting a large group, keep the main entree simple; burgers, hot dogs or sausages and even chicken breasts are generally enjoyed by all. If you want to cater to the veggies in the crowd, consider purchasing a few soy-based grilling items such as veggie patties or tofu dogs.

As your guests begin to arrive and settle in, make sure to have plenty of snacks available for munching and accompanying that first round of drinks. These in no way need to be anything fancy, in fact a few bowls of chips or pretzels and maybe even a fresh vegetable tray with dip will do the trick. Another BBQ favorite that you might want to consider adding to the spread is sliced watermelon. There is nothing that says summer more than a big juicy bite of perfectly ripe watermelon.

Nothing accompanies a BBQ better than all the delicious traditional side dishes such as coleslaw, potato and macaroni salad and baked beans. Whether you decide to buy them pre-made or make them from scratch, these dishes are a must-have for any successful backyard BBQ.

Keep these tips in mind and you will ensure your backyard BBQ to be a hit. Start the season right and don't wait another minute to host your first outdoor gathering of the summer.
