So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

State Your Case With A Vintage Rock T-Shirt

By Mick Walker

The music business cycles thus allowing what was once considered old to be valued as new and exciting again. There are a number of things that can trigger a resurgence of particular kinds of music. The fans of the reemerging music are sure to take advantage of the chance to show their pride in their favorite music. They will certainly bring out their old t-shirts featuring their favorite bands.

It used to seem like hip hop would be the favorite music of kids for generations to come. But the reality is that under all of the rhyming and rhythms, the music of vintage bands was lurking. That was where hip hop artists got their inspiration. Young people that had been listening to hip hop for years had no idea they were really listening to the repeated chords by Aerosmith or something first done by Journey. That was before the emergence of video games such as Guitar Hero.

Games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band depended on vintage classic rock as their background music; all at once young people could identify the makers of this sound, introducing them to a new music genre termed "classic" rock, which they fell for right off the bat.

The video game industry quickly jumped to offer the younger generation what they wanted - classic rock songs for Guitar Hero and similar games. When parents saw this, they began unearthing their vintage rock t-shirts and wearing them. After all, the kids finally realized just how cool classic rock really was. The kids saw their parents and the characters on video games like Guitar Hero wearing vintage rock t-shirts, and decided they liked them and wanted them too.

It usually happens that when a band releases a new record their t-shirts start selling and their back catalog of music starts selling again as well. Imagine taking that concept and multiplying by the number of classic rock bands available and you suddenly have a resurgence in the sale of vintage rock t-shirts. These video games were like the re-issue of all of that guitar based classic rock and suddenly t-shirts and CDs started selling again like crazy.

It can be said that when the younger generation starts rediscovering portions of their parents' past then some of the things that the parents held dear start to make a comeback. Guitar Hero has effectively brought back classic rock and now kids are wearing vintage rock t-shirts of bands that existed 20 or 30 years ago. The kids are buying the music but they are also rediscovering vinyl records and now vinyl records are making a comeback as well.

What a welcome surprise to find music similarities bringing children and parents together! Now that video games are bringing back classic rock and some vintage rock clothing, parents are rethinking the fact that they thought for a long time those video games were bringing down their generation of children.

While it is doubtful that hip hop will go away completely, it's remarkable to see the very kids that were sporting DMX t-shirts today putting on vintage rock t-shirts while they play classic rock on their music players. Games such as Guitar Hero are a quintessential example of how one generation's idols can reemerge with the cultural vehicles of the next generation. It's difficult to guess how classic rock will become familiar to the next generations, however presumably someone will discover how to re-introduce vintage rock t-shirts yet again.
