So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Saving Your Life with Auto Protection Devices and Supplies

By Luke Lister

Auto protection? Who needs auto protection? At least, that's the way most teenagers feel, when they're getting their first car. When you're 16 or 17, after all, you feel immortal, and like nothing bad can happen to you or your car. However, as you mature, you begin to realize that bad things do happen in this world, and that proper auto protection is just a smart thing to do. We're talking about protection in two regards: protection for your car itself, when you're not around to guard it, and protection for the car's occupants when they're in the car. Let's look at some of the items you might consider it wise to invest in.

First on our list are items that are helpful for warding off would-be burglars / car thieves. There are many electronic systems that have been developed for this purpose, especially now in this computerized 21st century. When they work properly, these devices will alert someone that a car thief is in progress. In some cases, if you have special needs, you can even get these devices customized to your car and your special situation. Let's discuss these electronic devices.

First on our list of helpful auto protection devices is something called an audible security system. As the name implies, whenever the car's doors or windows are touched, an audible alarm sounds. This alarm is loud enough for people sometimes blocks around to hear. The down side of this system is that many times, the alarm is triggered by someone simply close to the vehicle. How many times have you heard a vehicle alarm and ignored it, because you felt it was probably a false alarm? This is true of many people; they've trained themselves to ignore these, because they so often go off erroneously.

On the other hand, there are also inaudible security systems which set off private alerts. As the name hints, this device doesn't create a loud commotion. Instead, whenever someone is about to break into your car, it simply lets you know. It does this by sending you a simple beep or private message. This one also has a down side, though, in that it only works effectively if you're near your car when the theft attempt occurs. Otherwise, the thieves will likely be finished heisting your car by the time you get there.

An ignition system immobilizer is the third major auto protection security system. This one does its job by shutting down the car if the would-be driver does not correctly enter a security code assigned to it. Of course, the down side here is that even if you're the owner, if you forget the code, you won't be able to drive the car.

Each of the aforementioned products is designed to protect your vehicle from thieves. But what about protecting yourself when you're in your car? Here are some items everyone should keep in their vehicles.

One is a roadside kit. This needs to include a small tool kit, road flares, a red flag for tying to your antenna, a flashlight, and a small fire extinguisher. It's also wise to keep a jack and jumper cables in this kit. Speaking of kits, you should also have a first aid kit to help with possible medical emergencies. The kit should contain bandages, scissors, medical tape, rubber gloves, antibiotic ointment, alcohol swabs, painkillers, and a CPR mask. A third kind of kit is an emergency kit, for use if you get stranded for a long time. It should contain water, energy food bars, and a blanket.

All of the purchases above will run a little money, but they are great investments, in not just your own health and safety but your car's as well.
