So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

6 Interesting Trends for Holiday Toys

By Ellie Evergreen

This holiday season many parents will be looking to get that special toy for their kids. One way to keep abreast of what is popular with kids is to see what new toys trends will be happening during the holiday shopping season. While it is not fool proof it should give you an idea of what to look for and help guide your present choices. Here are some of the trends that major toy stores are anticipating.

Many stores are looking to see a major resurgence in sales of comfort toys and old favorites. Since the recession has hit many families it is believed that many parents will be looking to buy toys that have been out for a while and proved to have a steady following. One reason is that many of these toys are now sold at prices lower than the original and they have proven to be consistently well received. Toys such as Hula Hoops, Skip it, Barbie, as well as Hot Wheels are toy brands that are expected to do well this holiday season. Also look out for board games to be highly sought after. Established titles such as Monopoly and Clue will surely be in demand.

Another trend is learning toys. These are great investments since they are not just play things for toddlers, but also tools for education. Many toys like the Smart Cycle or the Vtech learning computers are not just fun games consoles, but also teach kids important skills such as math and reading. The best part is that many of these toys come with upgradeable software so your kids can continue to have fun and learn new skills and subjects.

Also look for toys tied to major movie franchises to also be popular. With the release of GI Joe and Transformers 2, the interest in Transformer and GI Joe Figurines has been renewed. So if you are a parent with young sons it would probably be wise to go ahead and buy them as soon as possible.

Also look for a huge demand for in Disney merchandise and toys. Disney already has a huge toy franchise stemming from its animated movies that sell several years after the movies are released. However, there will be even bigger demand for toys of Disney channel shows such as Jonas and Hanna Montana. Another big toy release will be for the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog. The movie is already generating buzz since this movie will introduce Disney's first Black princess character so look for dolls of this character to be a hot item.

Also look for new and innovative toys to be making a splash this Christmas. One of the new toy technologies is toys controlled by your mind. The cheapest one on the market is the Mindflex which allows players to use brain waves to control and move a ball through various obstacles. The price has already come down to around $80. It is quite likely that further discounts will generate major interest in it this Christmas.

Finally you can do something special for your kids by having them receive a letter from Santa. You can now order them online and customize for each of your children. Then you will be able to receive them by Christmas day. This is definitely a great way to make Christmas extra special for your kids.
