So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

By Jennifer Abbey

A season is a division of the year marked by changes in weather, ecology, and hours of daylight. There are generally four traditional seasonal divisions: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Among these four, the coldest is winter. It is this time of year that is considered one of the most enjoyable seasons as it is when most holidays Christmas happens. It is also the time when people enjoy snow sports with their favorite snowing gears such as MSR snowshoes.

Winter or bitter cold season as people normally calls it, is one of the four major seasons which starts during the winter solstice. The winter solstice is the pointing away of the earth from the sun around the 20th to the 23rd of December usually causing shortened day on earth. For the North hemisphere, winter usually happens during the months of December, January and February while countries in the Southern hemisphere usually experience such season during the moths of June, July and August.

As mentioned, winter is the time of year when winter sports abound. Winter sport is generally a sport which is played on snow or ice. Traditionally, these sports were only played in cold areas during winter, but with advancements in technology, artificial snow and ice were made available in non-snowing countries and made winter sports available as well. The types of sports included in this sporting event include ice skating such as figure skating and skeet skating, skiing such as biathlon and snowshoeing using gears such as MSR snowshoes, sledding, snowboarding, and snowmobiling. Among the notable winter sporting events are the Winter Olympic Games, Asian Winter Games, Winter Paralympic Games, and Winter Dew Tour.

Other than snow sports, different winter clothing and apparels are also reintroduced each year come the winter season. These are essential in keeping the body warm and insulate the body from the cold through the layers and layers of fabrics used to create these clothing. Among the various winter clothing seen in the market, coats are probably the most popular which are used to protect the arms and torso. Thermal underclothes are also popular in the winter season. As the name suggests, these are used under the clothes and are also known as long underwear. Gloves and mittens are other accessories used in the winter. Gloves are follow the hands shape while mittens also cover the entire hands but nit the thumb. Finally, there are the hats and earmuffs which covers the head and the ears respectively.

MSR snowshoes used in snow sports and winter clothing are not the only things popular during the long cold months. Other than these, the different celebrations associated with winter are also looked forward to by many. The most popular among all these celebrations is Christmas which is celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. There is also the Hanukah (Chanukah) which is a Jewish Festival observed for eight nights and days. New Year every 1st of January and Valentine's Day on the 14th of February are more celebrations that cannot be missed during the winter.

Winter sporting gears like the MSR snowshoes along with the different clothing and holidays associated with winter are definitely something to look forward to. These are parts of the bitter cold months which makes it more exciting.
