The screen is full of water. I am over it. This camera worked only once half through my Maui vacation. Took some great pictures and videos in the water then suddenly would not turn on after I shoot some pictures in the water. It's probably user error. Don't let the 1 star reviews scare you away. We bought this for our teenage son to take on an upcoming trip. The camera is easy to use, and takes incredible pictures.
With my other cameras I would never have use the software that came with it, but on this one I will. Awesome camera and I would defiantly buy a refirb again if I saw something I wanted. All in all, the quality is great for what I need it to be. Point, shoot, forget.
This tells me that the camera will most likely fail within a couple of years due to water leaking into the seals already. Another point I do not like about this camera is that, every time I turn it on, it asks me to connect it to a pc before I start doing anything. I would have to return to the hotel to charge or not take any afternoon / night pictures. The camera would also stop focusing and the pictures came out blurry. There are so many more disappointing things about this camera that it's almost not worth typing. It's still not working after 2 months now.
I suggest taking the time to read the manual and follow it.
I bought this camera in preparation for a cruise to the Caribbean. It was great to have a waterproof camera to take through rainforests, waterfalls, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming with turtles, etc. Sincerely, I love it...got it and the next day took it white water rafting, it was dropped, hit, smashed, dunked...and nothing stopped it from working, taking great pictures and videos and still looking brand new. My friends went out to get one of their own!
Then he showed us that he could step on it, and drop it from a certain height, and it would remain in good condition. The thing that really got me interested was that it was waterproof. It beeped 12 times and then shutdown whenever it was turned on. I am returning it to Olympus to get fixed but, when I buy something, I expect it to work out of the box. I am not going to be going on an amazing vacation and need amazing, stellar pictures that sell them self. Come to find out, I am pleased.
