When it comes to spending our money we like to invest in things which last and are cheap particularly in today's economic environment. In respect of the car we drive, it isn't only what a dealer has on offer to entice us to buy their brand and model which can save us money but also what we do when we own the automobile which can afford us additional savings. we don't have any choice on how much road tax and an MOT costs every year as these are determined by the govt. , we do however have choices when it comes to insurance, maintaining our vehicle and how we drive.
Insurance is a legal duty however; we do get to choose for ourselves which company we opt to earn our money. There are a great number of corporations offering us numerous deals so instead of simply renewing your premium every year, look at whether a different company can offer you what you require for less money.
Fuel is a total must for many people, unfortunately nobody has still to invent an automobile which runs on fresh air (although would that be great). We tend to get into a routine of when and which station we use to "fill up" such as using a superstore chain when we do our weekly shop. Take the time to divert from your regular routine and see what the other stations have to offer. Whilst the price in fuel may not be that significant they might be providing a deal alongside fuel purchase for other items you can require.
How we maintain our car can also save us cash. Carrying out a regular service and handling any minor issue won't only stop major issues from occurring at a later date but will also save on your fuel consumption. Did you know that tyres that aren't inflated correctly can cause more rolling resistance therefore using more fuel than those vehicles with properly inflated tyres. The majority of the well known motoring associations, like the RAC, publicise many problems which can on occasion be addressed with little effort in order to maintain a healthy running vehicle at nominal cost.
When you actually drive your vehicle you can take measures to save fuel consumption. Weight, driving fast and having the engine running on idle can increase the requirement for fuel. So don't carry around any items in your car that you don't really need, stick to the speed limits and if you find yourself in a traffic jam that looks like you'll be delayed for more time than 3 minutes, don't be afraid to turn your engine off.
When starting on an excursion you have never done before, plan in advance. Many of us have Sat Nav Systems to point us in the correct direction, however; for those that don't , getting lost plays on our nerves and adds precious time and fuel to a journey as well.
