Ford's cutting-edge touch-screen infotainment encounter MyFord Touch will obtain an update by early next year, reports the Detroit Free Press. Sources suggest that grievances that the old system was too slow and cluttered prompted the update. Free improvements will be sent to current MyFord Touch users.
Change is minimal
The touch-screen system was launched by Ford in 2010. The 2010 Ford Edge and 2010 Lincoln MKX were given the program. Since then, improved versions of MyFord Touch have appeared in the Explorer and Focus.
The system will be twice as fast as it was previously with the brand new MyFord Touch software update, as reported by several sources. The graphical user interface will also be streamlined, making access to music, directional navigation, phone calls via Sync and cabin climate control easier, claims the Free Press.
MyFord Touch was intended to work in tandem with Ford's Sync cell phone system. A lot needs to be improved according to surveys done since MyFord Touch has been introduced although the company knows that the brand new interface has brought it several consumers.
Better product
Graydon Reitz, Ford's electronics engineering director, told the Free Press that Ford is committed to constant improvement.
"Just as we love our electronic devices and can't live without them, we always want them to be better. And that's exactly what our customers told us," said Reitz.
The MyFord Touch that is brand new will be put in the 2013 Ford Taurus, Flex and Escape for all new owners. Software improvements will be put on a USB stick that will be sent to owners. Self-installation is possible, but the less technically inclined will have the option of going to a Ford dealership for a free installation.
Other MyFord Touch enhancements
There are more benefits to the new MyFord Touch than just being easy to navigate and read. This includes voice commands. Drivers will be able to speak names of sporting events to get then broadcasted with e a Game Finder feature that will be in there.
Use the iPhone 4S and Siri with MyFord Touch easily
