So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Important Items To Include In Emergency Food Kits

By Shari Swanson

Having fully stocked emergency food kits is vital to everyone's well being. Nobody knows when a disaster could happen and being prepared is smart. The items are simple to put together and could be life saving during a bad situation.

Times are tough and threatening situations can occur at any time. Some disasters will leave entire communities incapacitated. People who are not ready might find themselves out of food and water. Making a kit will eliminate the risk of anyone going hungry or being without something to drink.

Emergency supplies should be in everyone's home. Throw in enough items to last for several days or weeks. Things that should be included are consumables that have a long shelf life. Stack them in an empty room or pantry inside the house. Add enough anything that will keep the family safe during a disaster.

Canned foods are a great addition to any well packed kit. They have lots of nutrients and last a long time. Pasta, beans, meat and vegetables are wonderful choices.

Stock pile plenty of water as well. In some cases, the normal supply might become contaminated and undrinkable. Being prepared is important to everyone. Tea, coffee and baby formula all require the liquid.

Dry items should also be added to the kit. Chocolate, granola bars, trail mix, fruit and jerky are packed with nutrients and don't have to be cooked. A camp stove is handy for consumables that require heating such as dried eggs or oatmeal. Be sure to put in some propane canisters. Throw in some pans, a can opener, plates and cutlery as well.

It's vital to have well supplied emergency food kits. A natural disaster may occur at any time. Being prepared could make a difference. Keeping everyone safe and sound will make the experience much easier.
