So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

Interesting Facts About The Jaguar Tensioner

By Chloe Gib

From the year 1997 to the year 2004 Jaguar made several cars and the engines that drove them. Many customers agree that the Jags were a masterpiece apart from a minor problem with the engine. Many people reported that they experienced a funny sound whenever they started the engine. The clatter died out after some minutes of the vehicle running. This fault was rooted in the jaguar timing chain. Aging of the Jaguar tensioner caused this problem.

When the engines were designed the tensioners were expected to subject a small amount of pressure on the timing chain. A non return valve was to hold the engine oil causing the pressure. When the engines were new this idea worked without flaws. However after some time the engine would age and oil would leak to the tensioner through the piston. This would reduce the force on the chain.

Since the first engine was released problems with the Jaguar timing chains have been reported. These faults are not easy to handle. It is therefore encouraged to take your car to a knowledgeable mechanic to get the problem looked at. Most of time the fault starts with the facing that is supposed to exert a force on the timing chain. The facing which is made of plastic becomes ineffective and it could also break.

When the facing gets worn out the chain touches the tensioners face which is made of metal. When the tensioner gets derailed and the valves become ruined the engine will develop problems. The timing chain might also get entangled with broken fragments in the process.

Until this time the engine will never show any signs of imminent problems. Jag owners are advised to routinely open up the cam covers to scrutinize them. This process take a lot of time and it requires patience. In the end it could be very worthwhile.

It is quite difficult to gain access to the tops of the cam. It requires a lot of patience. You probably need 3 to 4 hours. You also require the right tools to do this. You should know where to get spare parts in case you need to find replacements for anything.

There are many online as well as local stores where you can find a Jaguar tensioner. Various designs are also compatible with the Lincoln timing chain. You should get a reputable mechanic to replace worn out tensioners for you. You can also send your car to Jag dealerships which have the right tools and experience to do repairs.
