Sioux Falls' Jaimie Kangas, possesses and rides this very sparkling firm framework Sportster, custom-built for her by her husband Jason, of Twisted Choppers. He focuses on signature style bikes. This is only Jaimie's 2nd custom made motorbike, her very first was actually a radically raked rigid motorbike, which was also built by her husband.
This custom motorcycle is entirely completely different from Jaimie's very first unit. It has much more of a classic race appearance to it, as opposed to a standard raked and pulled street bike look. Jaimie wished a tailor made motorbike that is smaller and lighter so that it would meet her driving technique and would remain comfortable to ride.
A 2001 Harley XL 1200 was bought as the donor motorcycle for the job and although it had been a complete and decent bike, it was immediately ripped apart. The framework was sliced up and tailored to accept a custom made hardtail set up. These hardtail kits come with all the required elements and hardware for transforming any Harley-Davidson Sportster to produce a tough frame bike.
Included as well in the kit is a custom oil tank, backside fender, saddle, and a custom battery box. Because of this, as soon as Jason had the body welded together again and the remaining parts on, there was very little left of the original donor motorbike besides the drive-train and front body part. The exhaust system, saddle and brackets, and handle bars among other things were all hand-made for this motorbike. And up front, Jason constructed a springer front-end for the particular size needed to maintain the desired drive height to meet Jaimie's features.
When asked what is one of the most challenging part of the project, Jaimie responded, "Having my partner to complete the bobber! The whole project began as my 2nd customized motorcycle, so it kept getting placed on standby, getting a back seat to other constructions within the garage. At least a year passed without much work getting done on it."
She ended up selling her chopper over the winter and now rally season nearing quickly, Jaimie wants to be there without having a bike. So she gave Jason a kick in the pants and the build started to gain momentum and was finally finished in the spring. The bobber utilizes a mix of new and old elements to get a basic yet classic look that appears great from virtually any angle. And with the Sportster drive-train installed in the sleek and stylish chassis, it offers a lot of ponies for Jaimie's daily riding fulfillment.
