So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Keeping Older People Safe From Danger

By Jimbo G Lesneyy

I just marked my own 60th birthday a few months back. While I feel young at heart, I accept I am not getting any younger. Admittedly, I feel weaker and it does not help that I presently become worn out easily.

My spouse stumbled lately upon a reliable Internet survey indicating that 1 out of every 5 citizens above age 65 have been victims of financial scams. In addition to the data, we know personally of peers who have been robbed in broad daylight. Therefore, he got the initiative of registering us both into an elderly person safety program.

I was shocked to learn that most enrollees were once victims of elder abuse. Some of them preferred not to report the abuse for fear of being sent to elderly homes by their family members. Nevertheless, I sensed the program provided them with a solid support group.

The six-week program covered a gamut of concerns which range from elder abuse to financial fraud, Internet safety and also home security.

I was particularly interested in studying about home security because we didn't have caretakers living along with us. The instructor shared with us the significance of purchasing wireless home security systems to be able to keep our household secure. He mentioned securing tough railings in all bathrooms as well as stairways as well, so as to avoid cases of slipping.

After the 1st week of classes, my partner obtained himself an alert system that had a trigger worn just like a necklace. Given that his motor skills have been deteriorating, he is prone to falling. I am scared that he may not get up at some point. Thankfully, he can call for assistance easily making use of the personal alarm, in the event that he can't get up any longer.

Being the manly man that he is, he likewise purchased himself a cane. He states he needs this to be able to feel protected every time he does errands around the neighborhood.

It was a good decision for both of us to attend the senior safety seminar. Not only am I more aware now of the possible dangers, I do also feel a lot safer.
