The wifi internet service is the reason that I'm here at The Udder Place at the Mendenhall Mall in Juneau Alaska. It's a sandwich and soup type of a place operated by a Christian owner. One sign of his orientation is the gospel music that is played overhead. The casual listener can pick up sprinklings in the conversation of most of the customers which smack of respectfulness and appropriateness as well as talk of God and of church.
It appears that the owner sets the climate for his restaurant and there are many Christian people in Juneau that appreciate this. They show this appreciation by lingering here and spending their eating out dollars here.
The restaurant sits across the mall walkway from one of the 3 public libraries in the capital city.
The walls of this cafe show support for the US troops overseas. Other wall pictures and sayings include bible verses and sayings that suggest a Godly attitude.
When I'm not working, I like to browse the web.
Though I often go to the library across the way, The Udder Place has their own wifi internet service and an adjoining second room that is quiet, a good place to sit in that is off the beaten path so to speak. I choose my table and set up my computer and I am contented. I don't purchase anything there most of the time but just take advantage of their disposable cups and get endless refills of water from the big water pitchers they have setting on the side table.
The internet has vast amounts of information. I start the day by reading my online bible. Then I check my email and my schedule and spend time reviewing news sites and money opportunities for those that seem sound and will ultimately pay the bills for the both of us.
The Udder Place is not open on Sunday but is open the rest of the week between 9:30 to 8.
When I need a few minutes away from my computer, I go down to the mall bathroom down the main hall. I then step outside the mall for a few minutes. The view is breathtaking with the biggest mountain, Thunder mountain in view on the right. I guess everyone gets accustomed to their surroundings and does not appreciate them to the fullest. It's the same here. Even though I'm used to Juneau Alaska though, it's still an awesome place!
