If you suffer from, or have every suffered from insomnia (as I have in the past), you will know how much it can wreak havoc on your daily routine and suck the energy out of you. Knowing how to use feng shui to cure insomnia can be just what you need to get your body clock back into sync with the rest of your timezone.
I should point out right now at the start of this article that for any health issue, including insomnia, it would be negligent to assume feng shui can be the be-all-and-end-all solution to your problems. For any health matter, you should always consult your physician as a first step. However, unlocking the powers of feng shui can be a very beneficial secondary step towards curing your insomnia.
Feng shui for insomnia
You have probably tried fixing potential causes of the problem such as secret arrows (often called poison arrows), ensuring you aren't sleeping below sloping ceilings and overhead beams, etc.
One factor is electromagnetic frequencies (EMF), which are created in your room by anything that is connected to an electrical socket. If you unplug all nearby lamps and sleep far away from the fuse box in the house, you may notice a favourable difference to your sleeping patterns.
You may have heard of low EMF hair dryers. We also recommend that you try changing to one of these. They can be a little pricey but they're worth it. The reason why is that regular ones emit a great deal of EMF energy and you are pointing that energy directly towards your head. If you take a shower and dry your hear just before sleeping the problem is much greater. Here are some other useful tips:
Avoid having the bed in a corner of the room.
Avoid having the bed next to a window.
Use soothing colors on the walls in the bedroom.
Avoid having the bed directly in line with the door. Also do not sleep with soles of the feet pointing the doorway. This position is known as 'coffin position' and is unlucky.
If your bedroom has an en suite bathroom, keep it as clean as possible and keep the toilet lid down at all times . Also be sure to keep the door to this bathroom closed as often as possible.
Don't use the bedroom for anything other than sleep, rest and relaxation (and love and passion!). Don't use it as a multipurpose room such as a bedroom and study.
Keep the Bedroom free of clutter. Also avoid too much furniture in the bedroom.
Do not have water features in the bedroom.
If you take all of these steps you should get a much better night's sleep.
