So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

The Main Facts Of Carpet

By Hayden Doherty

Carpet is a type of floor covering. This textile features an upper layer of pile connected to backing. The pile is usually made from wool. It may also be made from a manmade fiber, such as nylon, polypropylene or polyester. Most styles have twisted tufts that are treated with heat in order to keep their form. There are several kinds of carpet that can be installed in different properties.

The main types of carpets: woven, knotted, tufted and needlefelt. Other, less common versions include hooked rug and flat weave. Usually multiple colors of yarn are used in construction, which allows for more intricate designs and patterns.

The woven versions are put together using looms, just as woven cloth is. The pile on these is usually plush or berber with the newer styles combining the two. Needlefelt kinds are made through the intermingling and felting of synthetic fibers. This type is durable and usually installed in areas with a lot of traffic. Knotted pile kinds feature supplementary weft. Knotting is typically done by hand and extremely popular when it comes to oriental carpets and rugs. When it comes to tufted styles, the carpet has its pile injected in the backing material, which is bonded to another backing. Flatweave is constructed by interlocking warp threads and weft, while hooked rug is a simple rug that is handmade.

Both natural and synthetic yarns and fibers may be used in production. Some of the most common items used: wool blends, nylon, polyester, polypropylene, and acrylic. The fiber choice is often related to the cost, appearance, durability, and the simplicity of manufacture. When it comes to yarn production, nylon and polypropylene are at the top, making up 90 percent of this commercial market.

Nylon, both nylon 6-6 and nylon 6, are commonly used in the manufacture of these pieces. This material can be topically dyed or through solution dye. It is easily to be printed and wears well. However, this is known to easily stain because it includes dye sites on the fiber. Those sites must be filled in order to give the carpet any type of resistance to stains. Because this material is petroleum-dependent, it will fluctuate in price based on the cost of oil.

Polypropylene is also common because of its low price. However, it does not do well when it wears and may be hard to dye. Wool is known for being an extremely durable material. When it is blended with other synthetic materials, it is even more lasting. Modern carpets are usually blended wool yarns consisting of 80 percent wool with 20 percent synthetic fiber.

Versions that are filament or spun are usually constructed from polyester. Overall, the material has good physical characteristics. It has no dye sites, which means that it is resistant to stains. A downfall of the material is that it easily mats and crushes. Acrylic has a look and feel of wool and may be difficult when it comes to dying.

Carpet is a type of flooring that can be found in many properties. It is made available in numerous colors, designs, materials and styles. Many people look for styles that are durable, stain-resistant, and look and feel good.
