The more that I think about it, the more I believe that a show like "Home Improvement" would have been feasible in the real world. I'm not exactly talking about the show in general but the show that was done within the show. Hosted by two men who understand construction in general, they would often lace legitimate information with comedic banter. That being said, would a show like that, focusing on quality rivets and other tools, be useful in this day and age?
While I may have concerns about this idea, one of the bigger ones has to deal with a possible audience for this kind of show. It's no longer the 90's and I don't think that this idea can be employed now if there's a crowd to attract. One of the ways to go about this is to feature more in the way of modern technology. These would be the devices that anyone would be able to attain and I think that most can list off the ones I'm referring to.
It seems like now is the time where smartphone usage is at an all-time high and it's not difficult to see why, either. Apps seem to be all the rage and they are easy to use, making them smart downloads for those who want to attain as many features as humanly possible. These programs may be able to see what tools are best in addition to the most recommended brands. These are just a couple of aspects in which these tools can come into the picture of construction.
Would a show about tools and utilities, quality rivets included, be feasible in this day and age? I think that there is a possibility on the matter because of how much of an emphasis there is on technology in general these days. I can't help but feel like these will be tailored to a particular audience but it has to be one that will be able to make use of these tools decades down the road. They may just find the products of companies like Bay Fastening Systems that much more useful because of such a show.
It seems like "Home Improvement" has worked well as a show and I think that it was a great concept that was fine for the time. Does this necessarily mean that it is timeless? I don't believe that this type of show has that luxury and I think that, more than anything else, it is a product of nostalgia. This doesn't mean that it cannot be altered, though, and I am of the opinion that if it is changed slightly, quality rivets and other utilities can be marketed to a crowd that is more current.
