So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

How To Choose The Right Boat Transport Service

By Leticia Jensen

Although your yacht may be 'parked' in the harbor, there may come a time when you need to take it to a new home. If you decide to sail, it will be a trip that could be a lot longer than usual, and if you decide to get a boat transport service, you should be aware of how they operate. Moving a yacht can be costly as well, therefore ensure you have adequate resources.

Boats can travel on roads if the necessary trucks and trailers are provided. A company that deals with yacht transportation will have the right equipment and will be able to offer advice. Your biggest job will be to choose the right company to handle the task. Previous experience is essential, and one that has good recommendations will be advantageous. There may be quite a high price for their service, but there may be no other way to move your yacht.

Before transportation can be arranged, you need to know the exact size of your yacht. You may need to provide the transportation company with the measurements of length, height and width. Make sure you include any extra parts of the yacht. Especially lengthy or high boats may need permits in order to travel legally. The company you choose should know more about Department of Transportation permits.

The price from the company that moves your yacht may depend on where they will need to go and which trailer will be adequate for the size and weight of the yacht. You can go with the cheapest offer provided that the company is experienced. Insurance costs are usually included.

Once an adequate company has been chosen, you can start to make preparations for the trip. Besides the dismantling of some of the parts of the yacht, there could be extra precautions necessary. Boats sometimes travel in shrink-wrap to remain in good condition, and no journey should be taken with gas tanks that are full. Take out all the loose items in the yacht as well.

Boats are often relocated by way of the sea if they are able to efficiently sail the distance required. You can choose to hire people who are capable of sailing your yacht to the new location. There are businesses that offer services such as this. Before your yacht can leave, however, all licenses must be updated and all safety requirements will need to be met.

If you have some time to spare, you might even decide to sail your own yacht to its new harbor. Good and enthusiastic sailors often do this, although they usually gather up a skilled crew to go with them. The crew can be friends or hired persons, but they must be good sailors with some experience. The yacht will need to be stocked with food, water and all other necessary supplies.

An additional option for moving your yacht is to use ferry services. These special ferries can lower their decks into the water far enough for another boat to be sailed up onto them. They will then raise their decks again when they are ready to leave.
