So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Make Child Safety A Priority

By Eric Holm

Small children love to explore their environment and after they have learned to walk, they can really get around. Childproofing the house is the most effective way to address child safety because toddlers will find a way to get into everything that is within their reach. A children's emergency kit can contain a number of items that will help parents make sure the house is as safe as it can be.

Toddlers and young children are naturally curious. Something would be wrong with them if they weren't. One thing that they like to do is open cabinet doors and look inside. They will go so far as to take things out, not knowing the dangers that await them. Since they are only of a certain size, they will try to open the cabinets that are closest to the floor. For this reason, child safety cabinet latches are needed to keep them out of harm's way.

Since children like to get to things that are within their height and reach, another thing that should be covered up are electrical outlets. It's easy for them to stick their tiny fingers in the holes and possibly get injured or even worse, electrocuted. The wires and other items inside those outlets are live and if they are tampered with, it can cause some serious consequences. Using outlet safety plugs can help keep your child's sticky and curious fingers away from danger.

Parents should keep some door knob grips and rubber corner bumpers in any kids emergency kit. Children have delicate skin and when they are learning how to walk they will bump into furniture. Sharp corners can be a hazard unless they are equipped with corner bumpers. These padded bumpers will absorb the shock and keep sharp corners from doing any harm. Doorknob grips are designed to keep children from opening doors. These are especially important on doors that lead to dangerous areas like the basement or garage. It is impossible for a kid to open the door and wander through if there is a doorknob grip in place.

It's important that you child-proof your home as much as possible. The more you set up barriers and precautions, the better chance you have of your child being safe. You won't have to concern yourself about your child getting hurt or seriously injured. You will have made your home a safe haven for them. With a child care safety kit, you will be the better parent for that.
