So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

A Look Into The Museum Storage Facilities

By Elaine Guthrie

People tend to know and learn about the past and relate to the events as if they happened in the modern day. This has been made possible by the educational systems put in place and existence of facilities that have captured the past events in a great way. It is easy to get an idea of such events through what is portrayed in museums and archeological sites. To make this possible, a lot is looked into when planning for the museum storage.

The size of the entire museum will determine how much information can be displayed in it. The storage facilities put up have to be able to effectively host the planned or targeted number of artifacts. They should be in a position to give room for free movement as well as create an ample space for all activities that will be taking place in the environs.

The size of the objects that are to be displayed will also determine how big or small the facility hosting them will be. If the objects have to be arranged in a certain order to bring a meaningful view, they are most likely to be stored in a large facility. These objects have to be displayed in the right initial size they existed in if at all they have to bring the past into reality.

The nature of the items is another determinant. Some are fragile in nature and can easily get destroyed if not handled or displayed in the right way. This could be a blow to the museums as most of the items cannot find replacements. To prevent this, special facilities must be created to securely host them.

Any object or element displayed should be in a position that offers the most effective view to the people visiting the place. This is keenly looked into when coming up with the storage facilities. The height in which they are placed should favor every visitor coming in at all times. This will ensure that the views to do not struggle in any way when viewing the items on display.

The number of related items will determine how they will be displayed. Some of these artifacts are discovered in large numbers and have to be displayed exactly as they were discovered. This is likely to consume a lot of space if they are big in size. A lot of consideration is required before deciding on how to store them.

Weight of an artifact may pose a lot of danger if not well looked into. Most heavy objects will be displayed on the ground or areas near the ground with firm bases. This is to prevent breaking of the facilities holding them in case they are not in a position to withhold their weights.

Some of these artifacts are susceptible to certain conditions such as extreme lighting and severe temperatures. They should be stored in places that offer the most conducive conditions they require. This calls for special features to be integrated in such areas for them to to provide the specified conditions all through.
