So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

The Yarn Ball Winder Intro

By Jill Fagen

Relax and let the Yarn Ball Winder Guru introduce you to a new way of winding yarn without taking a hit...

Many a knitter and crocheter still winds her yarn balls by hand. She not only devotes her valuable time to being the knitter or crocheter of her project, but she also devotes much time and energy on being a human yarn ball winder. Each time the knitter or crocheter starts a new project her first job is to be a human yarn ball winder. She is taking a fresh skein or hank of yarn and painstakingly rolls the ball of yarn by hand, loop after tedious loop. During the winding process the human yarn ball winder wishes to address kinks and tangles and worst of all- knots. This winding project can often leave the human yarn ball winder tired and irritated and without as much interest in the knitting or crochet project she had been so happy about originally.

When contemplating the monotonous work that it would most likely take for each ball of yarn to be wound I am reminded of the work of a fellow guru- Mr Miagi, coach and teacher of the Karate Kid. Remember the wax-on-wax-off scene in the Karate Kid picture when small Daniel learns the karate motions through waxing the floor? He mastered karate abilities by doing common-or-garden and monotonous motions. That was superb for Daniel's karate, as he could apply each motion to his karate form.

But winding balls of yarn is a different art. The talents that it takes to be an accomplished yarn ball winder aren't the same as the skills that it takes to be a good knitter or crocheter. There is no benefit in going thru the wax-on-wax-off motions of yarn ball winding to knitting or knitting. So any additional time expended on yarn ball winding is time lost, that would have been spent creating something lovely with the yarn.

That is just why I would like to teach you the secrets to changing into a true yarn ball winder samurai (or at a minimum to understand how to roll a ball of yarn efficiently). There are two

1. the yarn ball winder (non-human)
2. the yarn swift

My job as the Yarn Ball Winder Guru is to teach you about these two convenient tools and how they can enhance your yarn ball winding talents.
