So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

How To Find the Best Electric Chair Lift

By Febbe Wallace

You might be thinking of getting your own electric chair lift. You might already have some idea what a chair lift is for. It is quite likely though that you may not exactly know which features to look for. Before you buy your own chair, consider which features are best for you.

Functions of Your Chair Lift

An electric chair is a lift which is designed to lower or lift its occupants to certain heights. It can contribute to the ease of movement of the elderly or those with medical conditions that impede movement. Patients and caregivers simply need to use a chair lift to facilitate getting up from a comfortable sitting position.

Of course, the first thing that you should look for in a lift is its ability to function well. This means your electric chair should be able to help you get up safely with no risk of injury. Your chair should also be sturdy enough to withstand everyday use. Look for construction features such as the kind of wood used and how it is attached to the chair structure. Consider too how many springs are used and what kind of material is used for the exterior. Functionality and durability are your top considerations.

Other Features

You would also want a chair lift with several features. Chairs aren't built for all sizes. You therefore need one that will fit both your height and weight. You might also be more comfortable being able to operate your chair from a specific side. Some chairs come with extra features like a massage function.

The number of positions that your electric chair has should also be considered. This feature also determines how many motors your chair will have. A 2 position chair usually has one motor. Aside from lifting, it can also recline to a certain angle short of a full reclining position. In most cases, the footrest comes up when you make it recline.

A 3 position chair usually makes a full reclining position possible. It also has one motor and a footrest that works together with the recliner. Both 2 and 3 position recliners can be set at any angle that falls within the scope of its full angle reclining position.

Choose a two-motor chair if you want more flexibility. This chair can be reclined fully or at any angle. Its reclining control and foot rest control can also be operated separately.

Guarantees

Electric chairs come in different brands. Before you pick your chair, do some comparison shopping online. Compare sites, brand prices, product features and extra client benefits so you get only the best deal possible.

Pick reputable brands. Aside from getting a very sturdy chair, you are also assured of having real warranties and prompt customer support.

Electric wheelchairs and electric chair lifts can be life-changing. It is important though that you only get the best there is. Be a wise and careful electric chair shopper.

What you should know about preparing seafood

By Dan Sewinski

Not long ago I spent a month in Sweden. One of the things I learned is that seafood is very much a part of their culture. Well you would think so right, I mean the ocean isn't THAT far away. However being from the Midwest it was just something I wasn't used to so it didn't dawn on me.

While traveling, I found a new shrimp recipe. Now that I am back in America, I have been trying variations of it and the results have been delicious!

It is easy to do, but this is my 'Americanized' version. You start by making the standard white cream sauce. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add flour, stir and brown to make a rue. To thicken you add milk and let simmer.

A crumbly type of cheese is now added - such as ricotta, bleu, or parmesan. Be creative - make up your own kind of dishes. Experiment with different textures and flavors of cheese. You can use your old-time favorites or try something new.

Then comes the curry! Add as much or as little as you would likeI prefer light curry. But remember that curry gets stronger the more you use and the longer you cook it so be careful. Then you stir in previously made pasta such as spaghetti and pre cooked shrimp.

I buy my shrimp frozen and precooked since I am not by a coast fresh is nearly impossible and raw frozen is not a lot of fun to deal with. There are many variations you can do on this shrimp recipe. You can turn it into a casserole for the entire family, you can hold the pasta separate and pile on the shrimp and sauce with a sprinkling of paprika and fresh cilantro and make your evening meal look expensive and elegant.

You could also skip the slaving away at the sauce event and opt to use a pre-made alfredo sauce. Although many pre-made alfredos are quite think and rich, you can thin it out a bit with milk and then add your cheese(s), curry, onion, garlic and whatever else you come up with to throw in.

Hairstyle - Pick the right stylist for you

By Larisa Serono

Pick the right stylist for you. If you have curly hair, for example, find someone who specializes in super-curly cuts. Curly hair is tricky to cut so it's best to call ahead to a large salon and ask for their specialist. Keep in mind that a stylist WITH curly hair will know exactly where you're coming from. The same goes for getting your brown hair colored red (ask for someone who does lots of new redheads), getting your boring hair cut 'funky' and getting a perm (you want someone who does a lot of them).

Do your homework Nothing annoys a stylist more than when someone sits down in their chair and tries to explain the cut they want without a picture. (Yes, I can be accused of doing this on my last haircut. Even beauty editors never learn). Imagine if someone said, "I want to look like Cameron Diaz." Cameron Diaz blonde or brunette? Cameron circa 2001 or 2005? And what does she look like these days anyway? Bring a picture or 2 or 3. And make sure the look will suit you.

Never say, 'Do whatever you want.' The beauty editor of 'O' magazine tells of the time a world-renowned hairstylist offered to do her hair and she let him do whatever he wanted since the cut was free. Oops. Big mistake. The lesson in this is that it's rarely a good idea to give your hair completely over to a stylist. After all, you don't want to be the practice mannequin for a new look the stylist is dying to try out. Do you?

However, the truth is, if your morning routine for the past 20 years includes a quick wash followed by a towel dry and ending with a soppy wet ponytail, you'd better tell you're stylist so or you'll end up with a fancy, layered, curling ironed and hairsprayed 'do that takes hours to replicate. Trust me, I've been there. Be honest with your stylist. Yes, you'd love your stylist to think you'll love your new hairstyle enough to baby it every morning with 10 products, 20 minutes drying time and 15 minutes styling time.

Trust me, I've been there.

A stylist once taught me a great trick, never say you want 3 inches off, actually take your hand and karate chop it right where you want her/him to go. And feel free to say, 'No higher, please.' My advice: Keep your hand there and have the stylist stand back and soak in just where you want your hair cut to. When talking length, show with your hands. One of the most common disappointments I hear about from those with 'Hair Horror Stories,' is the 'I Told Her Three Inches and She Lopped Off Eight' stories.

Cheap High Street Hair Care Products a False Economy?

By Jennifer Summers

Looking after your hair is a top priority if you pride yourself on having clean and healthy looking hair, and using quality hair care products (i.e. shampoo and conditioner) is a must. However, when it comes to getting the best value for money should you buy professional salon hair care products, or would cheap high street hair care products be just as good?

Cheap hair products available from the average high street store might appear to be better value for money because of their lower cost, while professional salon hair care products often appear to be pricier, with the average salon hair products priced at $20/GBP10, and a similar size cheap hair care product costing $4/GBP2.

When you weigh up cheap hair care products and professional salon hair care products and compare them on price alone, cheaper hair care products seem to be far and away the obvious choice, costing 1/5th the price of salon products, giving you what appears to be 5 times the amount of product for the same money.

But when you look into this further, and take into consideration the quality and the effectiveness of the different hair care products, do the figures actually stack up in favour of the cheaper products, or are cheap high street hair care products a false economy? Let?s find out?

To find out whether the premium brand salon hair products provide better value for money in both the short and long term when compared to cheap high street hair care products, we decided to test them to find out the real truth about hair products, and whether the high street products are as good a deal as they initially appear.

For our test we compared a 300ml bottle of professional salon shampoo and compared that with a 300ml bottle of your average cheap high street shampoo. To achieve the our required standard of cleaning, the professional salon shampoo needed just 10ml per application to achieve this standard, whereas the cheap high street shampoo needed 50ml per application to achieve the same standard of cleaning.

Using 50ml per application, the average high street hair shampoo provides approximately 6 applications per 300ml bottle. With just 10ml used per application, the professional salon hair shampoo gives you around 30 applications per 300ml bottle. Doing a little math, the cost per applications are $0.64c/GBP0.32p for the cheap high street shampoo, and $0.66c/GBP0.33p for the salon professional shampoo.

Conclusion: although cheap hair care products initially seem a better deal and provide more value, in reality there is virtually no difference in price when it comes to the economics of professional salon hair care products. And? when you include the much higher quality, the greater effectiveness and visual results, and the deeper and more thorough cleansing and conditioning of salon hair care products, buying cheaper high street hair products in favour of salon hair products is a complete false economy.

One place you must really go to while in Florida is Fort Christmas Historical Park. Designer Mens' Jewelry Takes Center Stage

By Erwin Rostuzing

Men's jewelry has long been a small, but profitable sector of the overall jewelry industry. For centuries, those on the masculine side of the gender divide have chosen quality tie tacks, watches and rings from the collections of a few excellent designers. But in recent years the men's jewelry landscape has changed considerably.

David Beckham, the world-famous football (soccer) player who is now a resident of Los Angeles, has contributed significantly to the popularity of men's jewelry in the past couple of years. Beckham, a native of the U.K., changed the men's jewelry map by wearing two diamond earrings. Because of his status as a celebrity, other men saw that wearing jewelry, including earrings, was not only OK, but also a strong statement of individuality. This small act was just the first indication that this world-class athlete also possessed a certain boldness on the social scene.

Beckham created a scene of sorts at his pre-World Cup party. Beckham put an beautiful diamond-encrusted watch on the block at his charity auction, attracting attention with the display of this dazzling item. Jacob Arabo, a talented jewelry designer who is gaining status among world jewelry enthusiasts, created the watch. Arabo's fascinating mens' jewelry has attracted a strong following among clients who recognize that the young designer's work moves beyond classic design. Arabo has helped change attitudes toward men's jewelry. (Fellow world-class soccer professional Ashley Cole assisted Beckham with this "coming out party" for men's jewelry by wearing only jewelry under his dinner jacket - no shirt!)

Thanks to a handful of creative and daring designers, jewelry is taking another step across that imaginary line between women's and men's fashion accessories. Urban dwellers who want to stay with current trends are adding jewelry to their wardrobe, choosing from a wide range of newly created pieces. Some believe that the growing choices in mens' jewelry will spawn an associated industry in jewel boxes and storage items that will rival the long-standing field of women's jewelry items. A quick look at the designer collections of bracelets, chains, pendants, earrings and more will convince most people that the mens' jewelry field is on the verge of an explosion.

The days of men wearing a nice watch and perhaps a well-designed ring are quickly turning into days of additional gold neck chains, one or more earrings, and other excellent jewelry accessories for men only. As one observer of the fashion scene stated, mens' jewelry is breaking out of the handful of studios it occupied in the past. The trend, my friends, is toward mens' fashion - in gold and diamonds.

For those men who want to join the movement, there are now plenty of opportunities. Platinum is being widely used in mens' jewelry. Rings with multiple diamonds are growing in popularity, as are earrings and other small items that discreetly announce the man's membership in this growing group. Jewelry designers and jewelry suppliers are taking notice, helping to fan the flames of the mens' jewelry trend. Some experts in the field believe this is no temporary spike in activity, but is actually a long-term movement toward an entirely new style.
