The Mexican and Indian auto sectors have produced outstanding showings in both automobile manufacturing and exports. Mexico's figures bloomed, because of the demand for foreign automobiles produced there.
Numbers in the nation
An AMIA representative remarked that 945,530 vehicles were exported in Mexico from January 2012 to May 2012, which is a 13.7 percent increase from the same period a year before. There was also an increased in the manufacturing tally in Mexico during that period. It increased by 12.5 percent from the year before to 1.15 million.
"We are repeating once again historic figures for production and exports," said Eduardo Solis, AMIA president. "We've been diversifying our markets."
A lot happened in May
May was an excellent month for the automotive sector in Mexico, according to AMIA records. Domestic sales increased to 80,267, a 17 percent increase, while export figures increased 5.7 percent to 187,042. The production grew 2.8 percent to 228.048.
Seeing achievement elsewhere
Mexico is not the only nation experiencing historic auto import figures, notes Money Control. Passenger car exports out of India were up a whopping 34.16 percent in May, thanks to overseas demand for Hyundai, Nissan and Toyota in non-European nations. Figures submitted by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) indicate that India's vehicle sector exported 45,036 automobiles in May, in contrast to 33,570 in May 2011.
"Europe still continues to be a worry, but the growth that we have seen is mainly on account of new markets that the companies have developed," noted SIAM Director General Vishnu Mathur.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd. was a rousing success in May 2012, moving 42 percent more automobiles out of India than at the same time the previous year. Total export units reached 23,659.
"On account of slackness in the domestic market in May, we took the opportunity to ramp up the back orders for the export market. We had higher sales of the Eon in Algeria, the i20 in South Africa and the i10 in South America, particularly in Mexico and Columbia," said a Hyundai Motor India Ltd. spokesperson.
Success in the nation
Export totals increased 32.38 percent in May for domestic brands such as Tata motors in India too. Motorcycle exports increased 8.07 percent to 174,362 units, scooter exports increased 87.18 percent to 10,660 units and all domestic vehicle exports increased 4.62 percent, according to SIAM.
