It's a pain in the butt to work. Wish I could return and get my money back. It is just amazing - the fan alone would be great, but the air blowing out of it is genuinely cool! Not like your car A/C blasting on max, but still unbelievable. Will be ordering another for my daughter next summer and hopefully the price would have gone down a bit by then. This fan was purchased as a gift for my girlfriend and she bought it to work with her all the time. Outside in 100 degree heat, it doesn�t make much of a dent if not right AT your face, but on a beach vacation, or at a sporting event it's perfect to hold and keep you much cooler. Just bring the little bottle for refills! It needs the hot dry weather to cool the air down. If not, it's just a fan. I live in the dry Southwest and this handy cooler is perfect. It's well engineered, quiet, and very convenient to bring around. Is it meant to be a wrist strap? Because I would never attach it to my hand and walk around with it because is a bit large to do that.

Cools you down and I love the concept of how it has a USB jack so that I can plug it into my laptop which makes it convenient. Pricewise it�s more expensive than the other fans available and if cost conscious I'd probably go for the basic fans that always aren't as good, are half the price. Bought this for use at home and it does a lovely job of keeping me comfortable. The design is simple and it works well. However, it's certainly not as cool as your car's air-conditioner. One way to make the air a little cooler is to store the refill water bottles in the refrigerator.

You can run it on batteries and they last a decent amount of time, but unless you have rechargeable ones, it's a hassle to keep on buying new ones. I bought this cooler and took it with me on a trip to the DR. I bought one with reluctance at the time because I have invested a lot of money in the past for multiple portable cooling devices but nothing lasted me that long or always had some type of fault but I figured with the four star rating that it couldn't go too wrong. The first thing I did when I got it in the mail was soak the filter and fit it into the device, it was a very easy process and immediately felt the cooling.

Now I'm spoilt and won't ever want to camp without this in the summer. We've tried the mini fans battery operated fans, the spray bottles with fans, ice packs and chairs with shade, some of them help but needless to say it is still hot. We love the Handy Cooler.

It was 90 degrees and an obese person like me does not take the heat well. We bought x2 baby kits (mesh bag holder, flexible tube, & HCs).

Once they stopped working, I took the batteries out and used them elsewhere -- they had lots of juice left in them. The only thing I can conclude is that the motor in this thing is very poorly engineered. I like the fan. It does cool you off. Yes, this little puppy really does work as advertised. Just wet the sponge, turn the unit on, and point the air stream at your face.

I have to say that standard misting fans are great if you're out at the beach or something, but if you don't want to get wet it can't be used. The way the handy cooler is designed gives you the same effect but without the wetness hitting you.

The problems were as follows. As a 77 year old woman, the item was too heavy and caused pain to my hand when I held it. The highest speed blows a perfect amount of air on the hottest days and it gives out a low, droning buzz. In fact, the buzz on my laptop is even louder than this fan so it is never considered a distraction when I am working.

And the company has the gall to claim you're getting a $50 savings?! It's just another symptom of a society trying to get the most for the least.

The only time when I really need it if I stay outdoors for long periods of time, which is once in a year, like last season's baseball game.

Beyond that, it produces a nice cool breeze with a light humming noise. It's nothing that powerful, but you can definitely feel the breeze and the temperature of the air really is cooler.

The filter dries out in 1-2 hours depending on the conditions you use it in. I bought 4 rechargeable batteries for this device and it has worked well for me. They arrived in the mail in great condition in a timely manner, but using them is a headache. First you have to wash the sponges, and then you have to measure out the exact amount of water. It prevents me from turning into a giant mess. I'm on the go and very active indoors and out, this product has been fantastic, for me personally a life and sanity saver.
