So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

The Best Valentine's Day Gifts Are Not The Most Expensive Ones

By Suzanne Walsh

Valentine's Day is one of the best chances for lovers to speak out their feelings with the help of creative gifts. Romance plays an important role in choosing the perfect gifts, but some psychology is also needed.

The best present is the one that tells your lover about your feelings, while matching his or her needs. Ideas can be countless. A little bit of brainstorming will do wonders for your decision.

When choosing the gift, you have to decide upfront upon the budget you are willing to spend for this occasion. Refrain from using your credit card and rely only on the money you actually have.

Valentine's Day is celebrated in many countries across the globe. More and more, new ones are added, as lovers from those countries feel like celebrating their love as well. Thus, they have imported the holiday and they enjoy it year after year.

Chocolates can be the perfect gift. They come in various shapes and flavors, so you'll be able to get a bouquet of chocolate roses, or a chocolate heart, or even a champagne bottle made out of chocolate. Just imagine and perform a web search. You'll see immediately some results, that's for sure.

Gourmet food gift baskets are in the top of preferences. Thanks to the creativity proven by merchants, such baskets may have romantic names and meanings, in order to offer you the perfect Valentine night. Juliet's Balcony is only one of these gift baskets which sell like crazy each February.

Sending a Valentine card can be enough of a gift, in case you don't have too much money. Don't get in debt for this celebration. Try to think out of the box and come up with funny, romantic messages for the one you love. She'll love you even more.

The perfect gift is the one that reflects your Valentine's desires and wishes. Be original, but don't give her something that she won't ever use.

Choosing Elegant Spring & Garden Wedding Favors

By Aaron H.

Spring is one of the most common times for couples to get married. New life is beginning all around them following the cold starkness of winter, and couples are marrying to begin a new life together as man and wife instead of two individuals alone. A lot of the symbolism of spring and growing life is a perfect representation of the new marriage, so saying "Thank you" to one's guests by giving spring or garden wedding favors is a great idea.

The giving of favors has become traditional at weddings in recent years. These small, usually inexpensive items are given to one's guests as "Thank you" gifts that convey the gratitude of the bride and groom in a better and more personal manner than sending out "Thank you" cards alone can do. These little items make wonderful keepsakes that will remind the guests of the joy they shared with the happy couple for many years to come, whenever the item is looked at.

Bright colors are usually incorporated into spring wedding favors as a celebration of the vibrancy and growth of newborn lives after the barrenness of winter. It is perfectly normal for couples who marry in spring to include bright colors as they decorate for this same reason. Nearly all spring wedding favors are celebrations of the beginning of new life, which is, after all, the noteworthy feature of spring, with new lives being born or created as plants begin to shoot forth after the temporary death of winter.

Garden wedding favors also pay homage to the beginning of new life, this time focusing mostly on plants and flowers. Flowers of different types and colors are commonly a part of these gift items. As a matter of fact, seed packets containing the seeds of mixed flowering plants that can be used in one's own flower garden are among the most popular items chosen to be given as garden wedding favors. These items create a living, lasting reminder of the joy shared with the happy couple that call to mind these memories every time the plants bloom.

Shopping for spring or garden wedding favors has gotten much easier since the invention of the internet. It is now possible to find these items in much wider variety and at more reasonable prices by shopping online than was ever possible when one was limited to making purchases at a local bridal shop. Also, because the internet is a global marketplace, the actual season where one lives is not a concern because these items are always in season somewhere in the world.

Spring and garden wedding favors make a wonderful addition to any party that celebrates the beginning of a new marriage regardless of the season because the bride and groom are beginning a new life together. These items say "Thank you" to the guests for the time taken out of their own busy schedules more effectively than cards and provide a keepsake item to the guests to help them remember this special day for years to come.

Ten Ways to be a Better Driver

By Larry Libassi

Every state in the U.S. requires would be drivers to study a driving manual, practice driving under the supervision of a licensed driver, and successfully pass written tests and driving tests.

But, take just a three hour drive and it's hard to believe licenses are not given to anyone who wants one. In just a few hours, you will experience horrible driving of all kinds, from the person paying more attention to a cell phone or a cup of coffee than to the road to the NASCAR wannabe who moves from lane to lane, cutting off anyone in his or her way, to the person who drives in the far left lane at 10 miles below the speed limit. If you want to be at the other end of the driving spectrum, try these ten rules.

1. Do not ever drink and drive. As few as two drinks can impair you to some degree.

2. Be sure to follow at least 2 seconds behind the car in front of you. Three to four seconds is even better,

3. If a car is following you too closely to be able to stop safely in the event you have to stop quickly, pull over and let it pass. As annoying as that may be to do, it could save your life or the life of one of your passengers.

4. Adjust all of your mirrors with great care. Make note of your blind spots and drive accordingly.

5. Never assume that other drivers will stop at red lights or stop signs. Always look before driving through an intersection.

6. Pay close attention to the actions of other drivers and be especially careful of those who drive erratically and/or aggressively.

7. Be a defensive driver. Remain prepared to compensate for the errors of others.

8. Adapt to poor lighting, bad weather, rough roads or other less than ideal conditions. Drive more slowly, follow at greater distance, etc. Be especially careful when ice or snow is on roads.

9. Replace worn tires, brakes, windshield wipers, etc. immediately when required.

10. You should never make a driving move that requires another driver to slow down or change direction. If you do, you are part of the problem.

Driving is not a forgiving activity. Any mistake can lead to serious injury, or worse. So, do everything you can to make it more pleasant and safer for everyone on the roadways.

Are You On Ski Holiday? Avoid a Crash with Proper Tyre Checks

By David Halbert

Are you thinking about a skiing trip, and considering hiring a car? If the skiing trip you are thinking about is going to be in Europe then the car needs to have winter tyres fitted on them. Even if the trip is taking place in UK, check that the car that is being used is fitted with winter tyres.

Tyre manufacturers have upgraded their methods of making winter tyres. Now, the winter tyres that are sold have softer rubber used in them. This allows the tyre to get a wider and firmer grip on the road surface. When cars were mostly rear wheel driven most people thought that fitting winter tyres on the rear wheels was enough to provide the required traction on icy and snow covered roads. Also, now some people believe that front wheel driven cars only need winter tyres on the front wheels. Both these beliefs are wrong!

All four tyres of the car need to have winter tyres fitted. Also, the tread, dimension, and condition of the winter tyres should be similar. As much as traction is needed on wet and slippery roads, so is the capability to apply the brakes. When brakes are applied, all the four wheels are forced to halt, and if one or two tyres are not the same then the car can get out of control. The explanation is that the brake pressure will not be even.

Temperatures in winter can go down dramatically and climate variations can be very unpredictable. So, no one wants to get stuck on the road with bad tyres. Remember, it takes time to empty roads and all the roads do not get cleared of snow and ice at the same time. So why take chances? Just being careful on the outset can save a lot of problems later on. More accidents occur in winters than in summers, so being careful always helps.

Tell the company you are getting the car from where you are going to spend your skiing vacation and make sure that the car they are going to provide you is fitted with winter tyres. When picking the car up, ensure all the tyres are winter tyres and are in similar conditions. If you are not sure of the tyres, it is a good idea to take the car to a tyre shop and get their opinion. Now what some people usually forget the spare tyre. Check that also, and make sure it is also a winter tyre.

Ask any tyre shop mechanic about the tyre pressure that is required for the tyres, and make sure that the right tyre pressure is maintained. Check the tyres pressure often as the higher you go the more rarefied the air gets. Winter tyres look slightly flatter than summer tyres, and this is due to their having a wider traction and not because they are underinflated.

Many ski resorts are on subsidiaries of the main roads, and the chances of having to drive on snow covered and ice topped roads is very high. With the correct tyres there will be no issues during driving on these road surfaces, and odds of the car going out of control or skidding will be removed.

In addition to the tyres, it is also important to check that the car's brakes are in ideal condition. A slight tap on slippery surfaces with faulty brakes can result in the car going out of control. So, do examine the brakes. When driving on icy or snow covered roads, use the gear to slow down and maintain traction. Use the brakes as little as possible.

Super Simple Tips For Choosing A Landscape Contractor

By Jim Dugerson

While it may be freezing cold outside today here in Chicago, I am not letting that bother me. In fact, I am more looking towards the spring when I will once again get out and plant annuals and flowers to brighten up my home. But what about the bigger projects like brick paver patios and retaining stone faced walls? Well, it may be time to outsource those bigger landscape jobs to a professional contractor. Here's what I recommend.

Here are some quick tips on hiring a landscaper or landscape construction company in your area.

First off, get a professional landscape design completed by an actual landscape architect. This may cost you a couple hundred bucks, but it is well worth it for you to see and envision the finished project on paper. This will also allow you to decide just what you can afford to do now, or wait til the next year.

Secondly, let's take a look at the plans your landscape architect laid out and see if we can do any of the work on our own. This is where the inner "do-it-yourself-er" will come out of you. You can save big bucks by parsing out pieces of the job and getting them done yourself. Just be sure you don't get in too deep and mess up some other portion of the project. If you need your contractor to come in and bail you out, you are going to end up losing money!

It is now time to call out a few local landscape contractors and see what they can do for you. Show them the plans you've already had drawn up and see what they think. You should be able to tell which contractor seems to be the one you will be able to work with the best. Keep in mind that this guy and his crew will be at your home for several days or even weeks, so get someone who you like! You should also ask the contractor to provide some addresses of work he has already completed so you can check out his work beforehand. Most of them are happy to show off their work and would love to take you to their former customers.

Finally, you should set a time frame that you think the design should be completed in. Keep in mind there are weather issues that crop up during any project and patience will be a virtue to you. It is always advised that you start your landscaping project in the early spring so you can use the summer to either run the overages, or actually enjoy what you have paid for!

If you follow these simple ideas and get started early, you should be able to oversee your landscaping project this year. Don't forget: get a design you like, figure out if you want to do some of it yourself and then go out and find the landscape contractor of your choice. Just think about it; you'll be out and enjoying a beautiful landscape before you know it.

Do You Know About Coffee Beans?

By Chester Ebenhart

These days, with high-end and exclusive coffee shops on every corner, espresso beverages are more popular than ever before. What is espresso? It appears to be a necessity for everyone on earth, particularly in the morning. Do you know about coffee beans? Espresso is an Italian word that roughly describes a coffee beverage prepared specially, or expressly, for you. Espresso drinks are brewed with a pump or lever that pushes down on the coffee beans.

The fact that the entire world loves the drink and uses what they term espresso coffee beans to make the drink, does not negate the straight fact that any coffee bean may be roasted to make espresso. This means that light and dark roasted beans are used to prepare espresso. Some regional preferences worth noting about espresso is that espresso beverages on the west coast are created with dark roasted coffee beans. These coffee lovers have traditionally termed these beans as French roast. East coast espresso drinkers prefer theirs' made with a light roasted bean. Italians always use a medium roast bean for their espresso.

Espresso Machines Genuine espresso machines produce a minimum pressure of one hundred and thirty five pounds per square inch. This is enough hot water pressure to force through a dense mass of compacted ground coffee. The entire process ought to be finished in less than 30 seconds. In addition, steam pressure units yield only 50 pounds of pressure per square inch and that is why Italians do not think of these machines as real espresso coffee makers.

Espresso coffee is brewed with a genuine espresso maker using roughly a tablespoon of super finely ground coffee beans and gives you a one to two ounce shot. A top quality espresso beverage will have a rich layer of dark foam across the surface. Every Italian with this coffee drink looks for the foam as a measure of its quality

How to Drink Italians especially seem to have formed a strong attachment to espresso. This is especially true of those actually living in Italy. They view it as a social drink, a custom, as you chat with a neighbor at the local coffee bar. It appears that the whole world is beginning to agree about this terrific beverage and that marvelous coffee comes from Italy.

I must tell you however that there is a specific method to drinking your espresso. The Italian method of drinking the beverage is as follows. Take the cup up to your nose and inhale the aroma of the freshly brewed espresso. Sniff it - as you would a fine wine before drinking it. Now you drink the entire four or five successive swallows quickly while it is still hot. 'Tap' the empty cup back into the saucer, and you're good to go.
