So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

The New TASER C2: Excellent Self Defense for Women

By Jim Wilkinson

In the past most self defense weapons were designed with men in mind. Not any longer. When Taser International released the TASER C2 they certainly had todays women in mind. The C2 is designed to provide first rate personal protection for both men AND women. It gives today's woman the tools needed to stay safe.

The TASER C2 utilizes the same technology used in TASER International's law enforcement models to effectively stun an assailant up to fifteen feet away. The device works by emitting a sophisticated pulse wave utilizing a high voltage leading edge to penetrate up to two inches of clothing, followed by a lower voltage stimulation pulse that causes sufficient neuro muscular incapacitation (an override of the body's natural control systems that affects the sensory and motor functions of the nervous system and impairs muscular control) to leave the assailant helpless long enough for the user to get away.

The TASER C2 was designed with the independent woman in mind. It has many superior qualities compared to similar self defense products available today.

A real nice advantage of the TASER C2 is that it is able to stop someone that is high on mind numbing drugs or PCP. These drugs can sometimes block the sensation of pain.

The TASER C2 is completely effective when applied anywhere on the body, either from a distance of 15 feet or less or in the event of direct contact, making it easier to use and more effective under stress than a firearm or chemical defense such as MACE or pepper spray.

Someone involved in a domestic dispute situation faces two problems. The first is that they do not want to be harmed. The second sometimes is the fact that they do not want to bring permanent harm to the person they are fighting with. The TASER C2 causes no permanent harm and can be used safely. Figures indicate that it has one of the lowest injury rates of any self defense product.

Equipped with CheckLock technology, the TASER C2 can be disarmed when in shipment and only has the ability to be unlocked by means of an activation code which is keyed into the device. Before the activation code can be issued to the user, they are required to participate in a screening and registration process to verify the device will not be in possession of someone other then it's rightful owner.

If you ever have to use the C2 on an attacker don't be concerned that you have to stick around and take it with you. Drop it, and run, after the attacker is down. TASER International has a great lifetime replacement guarantee. All you have to do is send them a police report of the attack and they will replace your C2

TASER International has been quoted a saying, "Your life is worth more to us than the cost of a TASER device."

The TASER C2 is in a class of its own in terms of device tracking. It incorporates an accountability feature that enables the authorities to track the device back to its rightful owner. When the device is activated, it will expel numerous ID tags that are comparable in size to confetti. The authorities can then collect the tags, analyze the ID's located on them, and identify the device along with its rightful owner.

"No other weapon in the world; guns, knives, chemical and pepper spray, electronic defense units or batons, can be traced from evidence at the scene of the crime to the registration of the owner," reported TASER international. "It all comes back to registration, verification, tracking, and responsibility. It's not required by law; we think it the right thing to do."

The TASER C2 is not considered a firearm by federal officials and therefore can be carried without a permit in most states; however, TASER International encourages users to check their state laws concerning the use of energy discharge weapons before placing an order.

The TASER C2 is available in many different colors and designs, and full training resources are also included with the purchase. The future of personal defense technology has arrived with the TASER C2. Today's woman can have the piece of mind knowing that they have the ultimate in personal protection at their disposal when it's needed.

Wheelchair Vehicle- What You Should Know

By Stanley P Major

Having a vehicle equipped for a wheelchair can make a huge difference in the lives of many people. Getting to where they need to be is only a small part of it. This allows the person access to many necessities and simple pleasures without having to rely on someone else. A wheelchair vehicle can make mobility a little easier for those with that are wheelchair bound. The standard vehicle is not equipped for such amenities and can make traveling difficult for these individuals. However, there is an alternative.

There are many options for those wishing to purchase a wheelchair accessible vehicle. As with purchasing any other type of vehicle, the consumer can choose between buying new and used. A used vehicle more than a few years old probably isn't a wise investment, as it has been exposed to more wear and tear. Warranties on these used vehicles when available, may be limited due to the age of the vehicle. In addition, buying new may have many benefits such as warranty and/or replacement services, the option of extra features, and not to mention state of the art wheelchair accessibility equipment.

While many of the common features of these particular vehicles come at no additional cost, this will ultimately depend where the vehicle is purchased and whether or not these accessories are standard in the particular vehicle.

One of the biggest differences in most models are the wheelchair unit accessories themselves, the size, and style of the vehicle. Standard accessibility units may include either a traditional ramp or lift, or one of the new electronic devices.

Not all models will have the same kind of equipment and the buyer should make an informed decision based on their particular needs.

For so many persons with limited mobility, a reliable wheelchair vehicle means the difference between remaining self sufficient and having to rely on someone else to transport them to where they need or want to go. Like purchasing any vehicle, one must take into account cost, personal needs and preferences, comfort and most importantly the quality. It is possible to get a good deal on such a vehicle. Through careful evaluation and consideration, one can invest in a reliable vehicle that should last for several years to come.

Colon Cleaners - Your Ultimate Guide

By Jared Rite

Everyday you are exposed to different kinds of toxic chemicals and substances in the environment. These toxic chemicals and substances enter your body through different means like the food that you eat, the fluids that you drink, the beauty products that you use and even the air that you breathe. Usually these toxins should not pose any problems because your body has a natural way of eliminating them like when you pee, when you sweat, when you sneeze and when you remove bowel. However, when there is too much toxins in your body, these normal means of elimination may just fail to remove all that is needed to be removed. When this happens, you could acquire different health problems.

A good way to thwart toxins from accumulating in your body is to use colon cleaners. What are colon cleaners? They are used to eliminate any unwanted substances that are deposited in the colon. The colon is a very long tube found almost at the end of the digestive tract. It can grow as long as four and a half to five and a half feet long, which is the average height of a young adult. The colon absorbs water and nutrients from food after digestion. It separates those wastes. But the colon, aside from being long, is also segmented so it is very conducive for deposition of these wastes and other toxic substances. When these toxins are not properly eliminated, health problems like constipation, flatulence, bloating and bad breath may arise.

There are many colon cleaners available if you decide to clean your colon of toxic substances. You can use enemas like fleet enema and soap sud enema. Enemas are done by introducing substances in the colon to induce excretion of wastes. If you are the type who is not at ease with having something inserted in your anus, there are laxatives available for you. These oral pills also induce excretion of wastes. Aside from synthetic laxatives there are also herbal colon cleaners that you can use. Like most herbal products, these colon cleaners are gaining popularity because they are marketed as safe to use being made of natural ingredients.

Some people say that for a cleaner colon you can choose to undergo colonic hydrotherapy. This is done by gently putting water in the colon through the anus to wash away wastes and toxins. It is true that this method can really clean your colon well but unfortunately, it can clean it so well that even good bacteria needed for a healthy colon environment are also flushed out. Given the delicate nature of this procedure a professional in a clinic or a hospital does it.

Lastly, you can also clean your colon by changing your diet. You should eat a lot of foods with high fiber content. These fibers will sweep out the toxins in your colon. You should also avoid foods with lots of preservatives. In addition, you should increase your water intake.

All these colon cleaners are supposed to help you remove toxins out of your body so that you will not get sick. However, to ensure safety, it is always best to consult your doctor before using any of them.

Glasgow Vacations

By Karl Fraser

In the following article the reader will be introduced to the Scottish city of Glasgow and three of the places you may wish to visit if you choose to take a short city break there. Glasgow is steadily increasing in popularity as a vacation destination and for good reason.

If you see anything about Scotland you will, almost certainly, also see either bagpipes, kilts or, at the least, some tartan. These items represent "tourist" Scotland, the nice shortbread box cover type of country with spectacular countryside featuring stags and golden eagles. The truth is that Scottish history often reads as a long list of bloody battles and historic sites dotted all over the landscape are the physical remains of a long struggle.

Sometimes it can be difficult to get around to see a reasonable number of these important sites but if you choose to stay in Glasgow you will be pleasantly surprised how many superb historical sites are within easy reach. Below I take a look at three brilliant examples of the places you can visit when you stay in this exciting city, Glasgow Cathedral, Crookston Castle and Newark Castle.

Glasgow Cathedral

The foundations of Glasgow were laid during the seventh century when St. Mungo built his small church on the site. He died in 612 and today he is the city's patron saint. Over the years the site expanded and the church was much modified and then, during the 12th and 13th centuries, it was built over. On the 6th July 1197 it was consecrated and today it remains as one of the most important landmarks of the city. Few medieval churches managed to survive the Scottish Reformation as most were utterly destroyed, damaged beyond repair or simply abandoned and left to be ravaged by the elements and locals who reused the stone.

Crookston Castle

Crookston Castle is an ancient stone keep and ringwork fortress, that dates back to the 12th century when Sir Robert de Croc, who also gave his name to the village of Crookston, built the castle. The lands of Crookston were bought by Sir Alan Stewart in 1330, and passed to Sir John Stewart, 1st Lord Darnley, in 1361. Henry Stewart, the most famous of the Darnley Stewarts, was the second husband of Mary Queen of Scots, and it has been said that couple were married there under a yew tree. Crookston Castle is a Category A listed building, and was the first property acquired by the National Trust for Scotland.

Newark Castle

Newark Castle sits on the south shore of the Firth of Clyde, enjoying wonderful views across the river. In 1478, George Maxwell inherited the Barony of Finlanstone, and built himself a castle on the site. There are still parts of his castle visible today. Major changes were made to Newark Castle by the most notorious of George Maxwell's descendants, Sir Patrick Maxwell. In 1597, Sir Patrick constructed a new north range replacing the earlier hall, in the form of a three storey Renaissance mansion. In 1694, the last Maxwell died, and the castle was sold. When the last owner died, in 1909, the castle passed into state care, and is now looked after by Historic Scotland.

Of course there are numerous other historic places to visit in and around Glasgow but I hope that the three introduced above inspire you to discover more. Hopefully it will not be too long before you decide that your only option is to take a city break in Glasgow.

The Cocos Keeling Islands

By Martin Pittaway

Stick a pin in a globe through the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, and it emerges almost exactly through the Cocos in Costa Rica.

Discovered in 1609, these islands were settled and owned by a single family from 1827 until the Australian Government forcibly acquired them in 1978 for a payment of over $6 million.

Lying 2,770 km (1,732 ml) northwest of Perth, the 27 coral islands are formed into two large, heavily vegetated atolls. Not only are they the only atolls that Darwin ever visited, but the coral ecosystem remains intact and you can still see in their pristine condition exactly why they played such an important part in his theory of evolution.

North Keeling, set apart from the other islands, isn't even inhabited; but you can see extreme rarities like the Cocos buff-banded rail, robber land crabs, and both green and hawksbill turtles among other wonders, under its protection as Pulu Keeling National Park, covering both North Keeling and its surrounding waters.

The 600 or so Cocos (Keeling) islanders live on Home and West Islands, both given over to copra and coconut plantations that only add to their tropical glamour. There is no tourist industry at all. Instead, there are facilities for visitors, sponsored by islanders who take an almost personal interest in everyone who comes.

If you happen to be there, you're genuinely welcome to participate in the school fete, sports day, or concert night; and you'd be unwise not to join in quiz night at the Cocos Club, or not to watch the annual Ardmona Cup Aussie Rules football match. The tradition of hospitality is both Australian and Malay, representing the origins of the tight-knit community.

The islanders, as much as the islands themselves, have retained a form of unpolluted innocence, and share a mutual respect that visitors immediately respond to. These islands are a dreamscape worthy of Gauguin.

What is the Perfect Christmas Gift?

By Emily Latimer

Have you decided what to get that "special someone" on your Christmas List this year? Are you going to wait till the last minute and get the "same ole' same ole'"? The good news is that there is still time to find that perfect gift. Let us help you out with some gift giving suggestions:

a) The Boy Scouts have a motto, "Always be prepared". This not only works for those cold nights on the camping trail, it is a good motto to have while you are compiling a Christmas List as well. Why? From this moment on, when you are around the person you plan to give a gift to, keep your eyes and ears open. This simple fact will often give you all you need to be able to ascertain that perfect gift for them. This is especially true if you happen to be in a store with them, and they are surrounded with "stuff" to buy. They will often pick something up and make a comment, such as:

"This is nice, I'll have to keep it in mind".

"If only I could afford this".

"I'd like it better if it was in green".

Make a mental note of comments such as these and remember to write them down when you get the chance. These little comments are gems when it comes to ascertaining the perfect gift to get him or her.

b) What does that "special someone" like to do in their spare time? Do they have a particular hobby or pastime that consumes them? If they happen to have a favorite sports team, enjoy crafts, or like to spend their time with some other pursuit, there is often some great little gift that you can get them to help them out with this endeavor. Ah, but what is that gift? Even if you don't know anything about their hobby or pastime, there is somebody out there who does. You just need to do a little research. Why not call up your local hobby shop, or post a question on an internet forum, asking "what would be a great gift for someone who likes to ". People will be more than helpful to help you get that perfect gift for someone who shares the same passion as they do.

c) Friends can be a literal goldmine of information on that "special someone". Ask their closest friends for gift giving suggestions...but before you do, have some gift giving suggestions of your own. If you ask them directly they will often draw a blank, but by having a few suggestions of your own you can "jog their memory" a bit. It might be a good idea to bring along some photos or pictures of what you were thinking of getting. Why not cut out some pictures from an old catalog? The key is to "jog their memory"...they might have that perfect gift idea lurking in the back of their mind somewhere....

These three ideas should help to get you started on this year's Christmas List. If you would like more details, or to learn about the "Hot Items" for Christmas this year, check out the blog: www.ExcellentChristmasList.com

Cynical At Christmas

By John Adams

Christmas is a time of magic for so many people, but there is a tendency among others to look at the whole holiday as a mess of pointless celebration and meaningless spending. The way they look at the holiday goes further than not celebrating it themselves, they will actually openly sneer at other people for celebrating the holiday. This is unfortunate, because for many people the Christmas holiday is something that allows a real warmth to enter their relations with others. Perhaps ideally that warmth should always be there, but having a reminder of it is no bad thing, surely?

The tendency to be cynical about Christmas is something of a result of the overall increase of cynicism in society. We have a tendency to see things for their price and not for their value. We look for ulterior motives in the simplest of actions, and consider what might have motivated people to carry out a random act of kindness. This is a loss of innocence - and although innocence is something that can be dangerous in too-large doses, it is something that is still desirable in some cases.

If you want to opt out of Christmas yourself, then the likelihood is that you have your reasons for doing so. That is more than fair enough. But the people who spend time laughing at others for having a good time at Christmas are really the ones that are missing out. Is there any harm in taking the excuse to enjoy yourself and show goodwill to all?

When Christmas Gets Hijacked

The Christmas holiday has become somewhat commercialized over the years, to the point where a great many people who claim no religious affiliation and would be insulted if you suggested it to them still celebrate it with great enthusiasm due to the presence of presents. This is understandable, and to be honest the whole festival of Christmas is in place as a result of an earlier pagan festival - so to complain about non-religious people celebrating it would be somewhat misplaced. However, there are some people who take cynical manipulation of Christmas to extreme lengths.

This can be seen in the marketing of some films, books and music releases. You will find that in the weeks following Christmas, the new release list will be somewhat threadbare. This is because the organizations responsible for setting release dates will take the films, books and CDs ready for release and line them up for the stores and cinemas in the run-up to the holidays, when people are more likely to spend their money. After Christmas, when money is in shorter supply, the inevitable result is that the schedules will be barren.

Often, these releases will have nothing whatsoever to do with Christmas. Even this, however, is far more acceptable than crowbarring in a mention of Christmas in the title, the storyline or in one of the songs. Although we may all have accepted that the concept of Christmas has been hijacked, some things should remain sacred. Re-releasing a poorly-selling album with a Christmas carol in the track listing - well, that's just tacky.

Decking The Halls And Trimming The Trees

Decorations are a major part of Christmas, as we all know. However, there is a tendency among most of us to find the actual act of decorating quite irritating and unpleasant. Not only that, but taking down the decorations when the holiday is over is viewed by many as one of the most depressing pursuits they can think of. Once the decorations are up, it is beautiful to behold, but getting them up there in the first place requires a very patient or persistent individual. For many of us, there is a mounting sense of dread as the time draws near.

Into the attic we go, to find the boxes in which the decorations are stashed. When we take those decorations out of the boxes, we are almost certain to find that the lights are tangled, the tinsel is falling apart and no matter where we look we cannot find the angel. Once everything has been disentangled, trimmed and found, we plug it in and flick the switch, and half the bulbs are not working. By this time, only the most upbeat of celebrants will still be smiling, and everyone else will be suggesting an alternative place for them to stick their angel.

Eventually, it will all be up, and we will look at it and agree that it looks very Christmassy and sweet, and we will let a little bit of light enter our hearts from then until the end of the holiday period. And why do we do this? Because we love Christmas.

Christmas Songs - A Mixed Bag

The moment that most people begin to feel that Christmas is really on its way will be the moment when they are walking through a shopping center and they hear one of their favorite Christmas songs. After that point it is hard to resist the fact that the holidays are coming. For many people however, the Christmas music industry is tantamount to the arms trade or drug dealing - a horrible industry that makes money from rotting people's brains and spreading anger. Of course, that is just the cynicism talking. Everyone has a favorite Christmas song, even if we are loath to admit it.

What we will generally agree on is that there are certain Christmas songs which, if they were sung at any other time of the year, would be the subject of derision and mocking from everyone. They do not need to be named, because we all know them, and by naming them we will inevitably start to hear them in our heads. And that way lies madness. However, some Christmas songs are actually good, independently of the season.

To say which Christmas songs are good would of course start a new debate. But surely, if you open your mind and your heart, you would have to admit that you have a favorite Christmas song. When you are walking through a shopping center and hear the one that you love, it will mark the beginning of the period where you can allow yourself to get excited about the festivities. But by the end of the Christmas period, you will still probably be sick of it.

Liking Christmas TV - More Difficult Than It Should Be

When it comes to the day, and the presents have been opened, the dinner eaten and a bottle of something strong has been poured there is one more thing to do. Sit down in front of the television and select the TV schedule for the evening. Doing this can lead to some debate, as due to the large numbers of people in the room you will find consensus difficult to reach. But the simple fact of the matter is that we will have to reach a decision, and some people are going to be underwhelmed. This is a Christmas tradition.

Some of the programs on the Christmas schedule are, if we are being honest, absolutely atrocious. Due to the premise of the holiday, we have programs which are filled with Christmas references to the detriment of their usual quality. Instead of the well-crafted jokes, the dramatic scenes and the intelligent characterization, we have poorly-marshalled references to the holidays and saccharine storylines which are supposed to be uplifting but really seem cynical.

Of course, by this time we are usually sated by food, drink and the passive happiness of the day, so we will let it go. We end up enjoying it, no matter how much we might cringe. And even if we feel a little bit disappointed in ourselves the fact is that, in the end, we all enjoy feeling part of a Christmas celebration. And if we don't, most of us have probably received a few DVDs in our gift haul anyway.
