So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

What If Captain Kirk Was A Biker ?

By LJ James

I have always been a big fan of the Star Trek Series. I like the idea of Traveling to unknown places meeting new people. Having great adventures and hooking up with lots of Chicks! Sounds like a familiar lifestyle huh?

I remember reading one of the Star Trek novels years ago. Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise were sent to see if they could end a war that had been going on for hundred years between two planets. Star fleet told Kirk and Crew, if these two planets did not stop fighting, within ten years both planets would destroy themselves. This is kind of how I remember the story.

As the Enterprise crew studied the two planets it seemed they had nothing in common at all. The races looked nothing alike, their religions were far apart, and their economy and Government structure were completely different. The Crew searched and searched but it seemed they could find no common ground between the two planets in all their files.

When Kirk reached the planets, he held a meeting onboard the Enterprise. Delegates from both worlds attended the meeting. After only a few minutes, the Delegate's from the two planets where arguing fiercely and Kirk had to call an end the meeting.

While the Enterprises Crew kept looking for something in common between these two Worlds, Kirk set up two private meetings with the leaders of the two planets. While having dinner with the first planets leader, Kirk found him to be very smart and personable. He enjoyed his company. He then set up a meeting for Lunch with the Leaders of the Second Planet. Again He found this race to be very intelligent and easy to get along with.

Kirk could not understand how these two different planets, which were both so smart and friendly, could not get along. There had to be a way to get them to just start talking to each other. Kirk set up another meeting for the next day between these two worlds to try once more to try to get them to talk with each other.

Kirk spent all night pacing and thinking. "There has to be something they have in common", he thought. As the meeting was only a few hours away, Kirk sat down to rest. As Kirk was relaxing he thought, "I haven't eaten in hours I'm starved". He started thinking of the meals he had with the two alien races. He had enjoyed both meals. The main dishes had both reminded him of corn and having grown up in Iowa, corn was something Kirk knew. Corn? Wait Kirk thought, calling one of his Ensigns and telling him to get him the Menus from both meals. After reviewing the meals and the ingredients, he soon realized that the same corn like plant grew on both planets.

With only a short time left, Kirk ordered dishes made from both planets that included the plant. When the Leaders and delegates from both worlds arrived, they were told please no talking, they would all eat first. Both groups enjoyed the meal. When the leader of one of the planets asked Kirk about one of the dishes made from the corn like plant, Kirk told him he would have to ask the Leader of the second planet as it was one of their dishes. As one of the leaders of the Second planet explained how it was made, other members of the groups started talking about how they grew the plants and recipes that had been handed down in their families over the years.

This was the common ground Kirk had been looking for. Within a few hours, the planets had agreed to a cease fire and by the end of the week the planets had stopped fighting and declared peace. It took many years for some to get over their hatred of each other and things did not go completely smooth. Within 5 years the planets had started trading with each other and both worlds grew Stronger. 20 years after the truce both planets where invaded by a far off race, but because both planets had put aside their differences and collaborated in many different areas, including defense, they were able to fight off the invaders.

If Captain Kirk were a Biker and a member of a group like NCOMC and he was sitting down with the leaders of all the Major Motorcycle Clubs in the world, how long would it take him to find a common ground between the groups? I wonder if he could get them to talk and realize it was in their best interest to get along, to work together.

Motorcycle Clubs already have an invading force looking to take them down. Will the groups keep fighting each other, making themselves weaker as this force works to end them all forever or will a Captain Kirk arise to Unite them?

New York Road Side Rests

By L.J. James

In the Heart of the New York Catskill Mountains, there is a place called Nicks Waterfall House. I have been there many times and it has become one of my favorite places of all time to ride to.

There are times when the stress of our lives and jobs can get even the best of us a little down. If you are a straight lace citizen you go to a Doctor and get some pills or maybe see a shrink. If you are a Biker you hop on your Motorcycle get the motor running and you head out to a place like Nicks Waterfall House.

It does not matter where you are or what direction you come from. The ride threw the NY Catskill Mountains is going to relax the stress away from the depths of your very soul. As you ride to Nick's threw long winding roads up over and into the heart of some of the worlds most majestic Mountains, with the Sun shining down on you and the fresh Mountain air filling your lungs you will start to get a feeling of what one can only describe as pure joy.

As you get near Nicks Waterfall House located on Route 990v, Gilboa New York 12076, either alone or with a group of friends. You will feel as if time and space are no longer a factor in the Universe, and it only gets better from there! As you ride in the first thing many think is they have reached some old time lost resort, but have no fear Nicks is a Biker bar.

When you walk threw the front door you will no longer have any doubts you have arrived at the right place. If Nick is not there to great you himself, there is a good chance he is in his large kitchen cooking up some classic Biker grub. I recommend the first thing you do is order an Ice Cold Beer and go sit by the large windows over looking a Waterfall that looks as if it was stolen from the year--92. If there is any stress or negative emotions left in your body after the ride to the Waterfall House after only a few minutes watching the water fall down and roll over the rocks it will soon have all washed down stream.

Then it is time to meet the locals, grab another Beer and maybe some of that great food (My favorite is the Waterfall House Cheeseburgers) or maybe shoot a game of pool. The crowd at Nicks is a mix of friendly Bikers, locals and good ole boys. This is a place to exchange stories and Adventures from the road. Often the sharing of stories can go on for hours.

It is easy to have what some may call too much fun at Nicks Waterfall House but with rooms up stairs starting at only $25 a night, there is no reason to worry! Now I want to make sure that you know when I tell you there are rooms at Nicks you understand these rooms where created for road weary bikers. If you bring your old lady with you make sure she is a real biker Chick because Nicks is no Yuppie bed and breakfast! It is a real bikers, biker bar and what you get when you rent a room from Nicks is a communal living room a bed to sleep in and a shower to wash off the road dust! One other thing you get from a night at Nicks is a renewed Spirit of Adventure and a willingness to face what ever maybe up around the next bend in your life!

I have many local Bars that I think of as home and I love to go to and cut loose, but when I hear that call of the road it is often telling me it is time to go to Nick's Waterfall House!!!

How To Design A Comfortable Mascot Costume

By Adriana Noton

Have you ever wondered what it takes to design a comfortable mascot costume? Probably not. For most of us the word Mascot brings visions of football games and some big, weird looking animal walking around acting silly.

Mascots have fans just like the teams they represent do. When they come on to the stage or field, they receive cheers and support as well. Most teams can be identified by their mascot.

Most mascots are there for amusement. The amusement is provided before the game, during breaks or to liven things up a bit. It is possible that some individuals attend events just to see the mascot. These team representatives can bring fans out of their misery if the team isn't doing to good. There are times when the antics are so hilarious that the mascot is talked about more than the game.

Mascots make their job look easy when in reality; the costumes are often hot and heavy. When choosing someone to be a mascot, they have to be thought of because of the construction of the costume.

Light weight and comfortable custom mascots costumes may be purchased by teams whose budget is quite large. These costumes, made of the lighter material, often allow the one wearing them to move and breathe easier. When selecting a construction, the length of time it can be worn and how well someone can move in it needs to be considered. Those chosen to be mascots must be agile and strong.

When developing the costume for a mascot, weather conditions need to be taken into consideration. The costume needs to have the ability to add or remove material when necessary to keep the mascot cool or warm.

The head can be made of fiberglass because it is a light weight material. Also take into account the persons need to be able to see.

Denim, polyester and cotton can be used to make the costume. The inclusion of battery operated fans may also be an option for the costume design.

Make sure to sign a contract that includes the cost for the material and construction. The contract to should also state that the rights to the costume are owned by the school or team and that it will be original. The mascot costume should be a one of a kind. The costume should also include the school colors to make it more identifiable as that particular school or team's mascot.

The materials that you are going to need, if you are going to create and sew one on your own; are the same that you would need for any sewing project. Take into account that the suit needs to big enough to allow for air flow around the person wearing it; use polyester fill to make the costume appear bigger than life; Velcro allows for ease when putting the costume on or off; and fiberglass or cardboard for the head.

Most of these costumes can only be worn for forty minutes. Those wearing these costumes need to be well hydrated and have someone to assist them at all times. Depending on the crowd and the event, more than one person may be needed.

Motorcycle Clubs The Brotherhood Mentality Verses The Gang Mentality

By LJ James

This Month I want to talk about the Brotherhood mentality verses the gang mentality in the Motorcycle Club world . Now for those of you who may be asking what is the difference? I will set up a scene to help give you an idea! At a small Bar a member of a Motorcycle Club walks in he sees four Bikers playing pool, He can tell they are a bit nervous, They see his patches and they know who he is with. Now how does he act? Does he walk over to the pool table knock the 8 ball in the pocket say games over and tell one of them to buy him a beer or does he walk over introduce himself and let them know when they are done shooting pool they are welcome to stop over at the bar and have a beer and talk with him! One is the gang way of thinking the other is the Brotherhood way of thinking! I really don't think I need to tell you which is which!

Now one thing everyone needs to remember is all of the original Motorcycle Clubs Started out with the idea of being a tight nit group of Brothers and just about all of these Motorcycle Clubs got along. Don't forget many of the men who started the first MCs where returning home after serving their country during times of war. They where looking for that feeling of Brotherhood here at home that they had been left behind. These where good men seeking adventure, looking to ride their Motorcycles and have a good time with others like themselves. Today most Motorcycle Clubs have gone back to that way of Club thinking, There are very few Clubs that still have the Gang Mentality that was seen mostly during the 70's threw 90's. During the late 90's things had just gotten too far out of hand and most Motorcycle Clubs began to realize the Gang Mentality was not the way it was meant to be and it was not the way they wanted it to be anymore, This was not what the Clubs where started for ! Many Clubs who had been friends where now fighting with each other. No one wanted to wear club support gear and things where just not fun anymore. These MC's had all started their Clubs with the same ideals and ways of thinking, How and why had they grown so far apart that they now hated each other!

Well the answer to how is during the 50's and 60's the golden age of the Brotherhood years of Motorcycling the Motorcycle Clubs where really huge. During this great time many of the Biker Movies that came out showed Motorcycle Club Members as Bullies and thugs. The Bikers in these movies would pick on those weaker then them, take over small towns and the Clubs in these Movies all fought each other just like the street gangs of the time! So of course over time many new Bikers came to believe that this was the way it was. So when New Clubs started this was how they would act and the Original Motorcycle Clubs now had members who where young kids looking to prove how tough they where by starting fights with each other. The Original Motorcycle Club Members had been threw wars together and they where as hard as nails they had nothing to prove to no one, But these younger members felt that they did and would imitate the Biker Clubs from the Movies they had scene and soon it was Biker against Biker, Brother against Brother, MC against MC. This began the Dark age of the Motorcycle Gang Mentality years.

Now for the question Why did this Happen? Well When something Changes the way of thinking and being of Groups like the Motorcycle Clubs so far from their original ideals, You have to ask was it just an accident these movies did this? Or is there more to it? Was there a plan behind it? Is there someone or some group out there that would benefit from having these large groups of Motorcycle Clubs who are run in a very military fashion and are made up of many ex-Military Members fighting against each other? If these Clubs all got along and worked together the world could be a very Different place! Are there people out there who are afraid of this happening?

Today there are very few Clubs left that have the Gang Mentality most have gone back to the Brotherhood way and the word Gang in the Motorcycle Club world has become almost the equivalent of a racial slur. Now as Motorcycle Clubs are beginning to go back to the way it was at the start and trying to put the past behind them, I am noticing that there are more and more Biker movies and TV shows Coming out. Will these shows show MC's in a good way? Will they go out of their way to stir up the quarrels of the past? Will they show us as mindless Bullies much as the Movie Wild Hogs did? Most Important will we let them influence how we really are? Or have we learned from our past? If all continues to go well we could soon be making are way into the second Gold age of Motorcycle Club Brotherhood back to where it all began!!!

Great Barbecue Accessories Offer New Grilling Options

By Stephen Daniels

No matter what season it is, the most avid barbecue enthusiasts are always looking for ways to sharpen up their grilling techniques. From unique ways to add flavor to food to entirely new ways to use a grill, there are an endless variety of options. Here are some barbecue accessories that both beginning and expert grill chefs can benefit from.

While many people have converted to the gas grill for its efficiency and ease of lighting, most will admit that only charcoal can give that classic grilled flavor. One popular solution to this quandary is the charcoal basket. Made of durable stainless steel, charcoal baskets are designed to sit right on top of a gas grill's burners. This enables the coals to heat quickly and be ready for cooking in no time at all, providing the best of both grills: the simplicity of the gas and the great taste of the charcoal.

For a delicious wood smoke flavor, wood chips of many different varieties, including hickory, alder, maple or applewood, are available for grilling or smoking food. Each different type of wood imparts a different flavor. Many gas grills come with baskets or drawers that are especially for wood chips, or a basket for this purpose can be purchased separately.

The Rib-O-Lator is an excellent new accessory that can turn the inside of a grill into a rotisserie. Fitting easily on most medium to large grill models, the difference between Rib-O-Lator and other rotisserie options is its four tray design. This allows cooking of many items that ordinary rotisseries can't accommodate, such as ribs. Food on these trays is cooked by indirect heat, which has many benefits. Juices are sealed inside meats, making them tender, moist and more flavorful than ever. The trays help to contain excess juices, preventing dangerous flare-ups and reducing clean-up. The trays offer a lot more cooking surface, letting you cook more foods at a time. In addition, Rib-O-Lator cooking requires much less supervision than traditional barbecue techniques.

Another flavorful cooking option is the Flavordome Barbecue Flavoring System, which is a set of grilling tools that trap in heat, smoke, reduce fire and burn, and help to create cleaner smoke flavor. It comes with several excellent rubs and sauces as well.

All too often, delicate fish and smaller vegetable pieces fall through the grill or stick to the grating. A perfect way to solve this problem is a grilling basket. Simple yet ingenious, these baskets are small cages that hold food securely. Most feature a handle to simplify turning the items. Regular and non-stick varieties as well as many sizes and shapes are available. Specialty baskets for items like ears of corn can eliminate undesirable charring. Larger grilling baskets can accommodate vegetables and smaller meat items at the same time. Many of these baskets have detachable handles so the grill lid can be closed during cooking.

What do you buy for the grill chef that has everything? Iron brands for marking food on the grill make a unique gifts. Avid barbecue fans will enjoy the novelty of stamping a "signature" on their barbecue masterpieces. Brands might say Dad or Chef, but can also be customized with initials or names.

Grilling techniques from chef to chef are as unique as barbecue enthusiasts themselves, and everyone has their own tips and tricks for making that perfect steak or rack of ribs. Whether you're looking for a way to reduce cleanup time or an entirely new method of using your grill, these tools offer something for just about everyone.

Taken From A Motorcycle History Book In The Year 2095

By L.J. James

Many of the "facts" in this story are based on Legend and Myth as much of the history of the Motorcycle and it's Culture was lost in the Great Rebellion of 2057.

Taken from a history book in the year 2095... Motorcycles And The Culture They Inspire 1868-2017

Motorcycles started out as steam engines strapped on to bicycles in 1868. Soon after the gas engine took its place and by the 1900's there were Motorcycle shops and Dealers all over the World. For awhile, Motorcycle's were simply used as transportation. In 1907, when Henry Fords, Ford Motor Company, released the Model-T at a price many could afford, the Motorcycle soon went from a necessity to a luxury item.

In the 1940's, the Motorcycle Culture really took off. An organization called the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) held races and events all over the United States of America. In 1947 the AMA held an event in Hollister California. This event was attended by many of the AMA Racing Teams and Motorcycle Clubs. This event marks the beginning of the separation of Motorcyclists which eventually led to the end of Motorcycling in the year 2017. Newspapers, being what they where in 1947, got a hold of some pictures of Motorcyclists having fun at the event. The press decided to embellish the facts and transformed the story into a torrid tale of Bikers taking over a small town! More negative news stories soon followed. Soon after Hollywood began releasing movies that portrayed Motorcyclists as lawless and evil.

The American Motorcyclist Association, trying to end the bad press, responded by basically saying that the Newspapers had lied and that it was only 1% of the Motorcyclists that caused problems. This resulted in the first ripple in the Unity of the Motorcycle World and the Medias' hatred of Bikers. Around the same time, the AMA began adding new requirements for motorcycles to be able to race in AMA sanctioned Races. Those whose motorcycles didn't meet the new AMA requirements started their own Race Leagues. Because the new Race Leagues/Clubs were not AMA sanctioned, they soon became known as Outlaw Race Leagues/Clubs. Although many Bikers raced in both the AMA and Outlaw Leagues, another great separation had begun.

By the late 1960's, the separation of the Motorcycle Community was becoming more evident. There were now three basic Motorcycle groups. The American Motorcycle Association, Outlaw/ 1%er Clubs(All 1%ers were Outlaws, but not all Outlaws were considered 1%ers) and Independent Riders. Over the years, the AMA continued to grow. In addition to racing, they began to champion Motorcycle Rights and Safety. As time went on, others formed independent groups whose goals were similar to that of the AMA. The inability or outright refusal of these groups to work together with each other, resulted in further separation of the Motorcycle Community and Culture.

In the 1970's, rifts began to grow between some of the Outlaw/1% Clubs. By the 1990's, the media had inflated these conflicts into stories that rivaled the tall tales of the old west. These tall tales where ment to invoked fear of the Outlaw/1% Clubs in the public. Everyone was lied to,. They were told to stay away from and fear all Outlaw/1% Clubs. The media began referring to Motorcycle Clubs as Motorcycle Gangs, a term meant to further instill fear into the heart of the Public. Stories and rumors began surfacing, claiming these "Gangs" were ruthless and would kill or maim people for little or no reason at all. By the early 21st Century, every minor conflict between Outlaw/1% Clubs was made into a book, made for TV movie, or docudrama. Titles like "Motorcycle Gang Wars In Your Back Yard" were common. Although real wars, conflicts, and suffering were occurring worldwide, the Corporate owned media chose to report fiction over fact.

In 2009, a conflict between two rival Clubs was captured on Video at a "Biker Build Off" event. The coverage by the media and negative publicity that followed was so overwhelming that in 2010, the United States Government passed a law banning all Outlaw/1% Clubs. In response, the Outlaw/1% Clubs put aside their differences and formed "Bikers United". The Bikers fought back stating the law was unconstitutional and un-American. Even as late as 2010, Many Americans still clung to the misguided belief that they had rights and lived in a free Nation. The Bikers fought hard and came very close to winning, but without the support of the Motorcycle Rights Groups,The many other Clubs, and the Independent Riders, all of whom had been brainwashed into believing the Outlaw Clubs were criminal organizations, they were defeated.

Many of the Outlaw/1% Clubs tried to stay together. The Clubs went underground, but after many raids and constant Government harassment, they all but disappeared. In 2013, in an effort to ensure that the Outlaw/1% Clubs never returned, the Government decided to outlaw all Motorcycle Clubs and organizations. The AMA, the many Clubs and Motorcycle Rights Organizations United in an effort to battle the Governments oppression. They tried to use many of the same tactics and strategies that the Outlaw/1% Clubs used. Unfortunately, the Government was much smarter and stronger this time around. They had learned many lessons in their fierce battles with the Outlaw/1% Clubs, and they used what they had learned against the united Clubs and Organizations. With no Outlaw/1% Clubs left to assist them and without the support of the Independent Riders, the United Clubs and Organizations were defeated.

In 2015, the Government passed a law that made it illegal to even look like an Outlaw on a Motorcycle. The Independent Riders banned together to try and fight the law, but by this time their numbers were few and there wasn't anyone left to show them how to fight for their rights. After a brief protest, they too were soundly defeated. In 2017, What was now a "Global Government", in its infinite wisdom, decided that Motorcycles posed a danger to the public. They passed a law banning the manufacturing of Motorcycle's and their use! They ordered that all existing Motorcyclesbe destroyed. This brought to an end, the History of Motorcycles. It would take until the year 2093 before anything even close to resembling a Motorcycle reappeared.

As a Historian looking back at the History of Motorcycles and the Culture it created, it amazes me how powerful the Motorcycle Culture could have been had they not let every little thing separate them. Instead of embracing something they all had in common and working together to protect it, they instead let their differences, the media, and the government divide them. By the time the Bikers realized how much they were connected and needed each other, it was too late. Their numbers were certainly sufficient to achieve victory, but their failure to come together as Brothers and Sisters and work for the common good ultimately caused their demise. Had they been victorious, it may have been enough to stop all of the oppression and tyranny that soon followed. History is full of stories just like this one, over and over again. The ones who love and honor Freedom the most are taken down first and the rest soon fall like dominoes. Until the Great Rebellion of 2057, we as a Global Society did not realize how important it was to put aside our differences. It may have taken awhile, but we finally figured it out...Just in time!

Choosing the Right Security Systems

By Pierre Levingston

It can be hard to know which security systems suits your needs best. It is important that you find one that will both protect your home and be easy for you to manage. There are a lot of security systems to choose from.

Many security systems are very affordable, even for people on a budget. Many people are afraid to look in to security systems because of budget constraints. They feel that they wouldn't be able to afford a good system.

Burglars go for homes that look insecure. They look for homes that are easy targets. Homes that have no security system in place are much more likely to be broken in to then those that do.

It is important for security companies to have affordable alarm systems, especially during these economic times. There is no better time to get alarm systems than right now. Using an alarm system can be an inexpensive security option for your home.

Take the time to consider your options. What security companies do your friends use? Do they have any suggestions or referrals for you to look in to?

Look at how much their alarm systems cost. See what their systems entail. By shopping around, you will be able to find a company that best fits your security needs.

Find a company that is well established in the area. Use a company that is continuing to advance with the times, such as using wireless systems. Look for security companies that provide constant monitoring of your home, 24 hours a day.

Having a simple security system can still be a very effective way of keeping burglars away. You should be able to find a very affordable alarm system that will still alert your security company or other emergency personnel immediately if it is triggered. Just remember that you are doing this to protect your home and family.

Got a Sweet Tooth but Don't like What's Available? Try Sugar Alternatives

By Esther George

Everyone knows it's unhealthy to eat too much sugar, but sometimes, substitute sugar alternatives like aspartame or Splenda can cause their own problems. Yes, these things are not caloric, but because they are chemically based, some people can't tolerate them. In addition, it's not yet known just what long-term effects these sweeteners may have.

High fructose corn syrup, too, is undesirable in large amounts in your daily diet, but if you do not want to consume the above mentioned chemical sugar alternatives and heap on the sugar or high fructose corn syrup when your sweet craving hits then what are your other choices?

One of the best substitutes to sugar is honey. Honey is natural, tastes good and includes trace amounts of vitamins as well as it has bactericide attributes. The only issue is honey in its liquid form can be tricky to keep without it crystallizing. This makes it difficult to use without an elaborate process of returning it back to its liquid form for use in you cooking, baking or beverages. The liquid form of honey is also messy due to its glueing nature.

Due to this, a better substitute sugar alternative that yet has a lot of honey's advantageous properties without the storing issues come in the shape of organic honey crystals. Organic honey crystals give you all the benefits and sweetness of honey, but in an arid or dry form that's simple to use and keep.

How do you utilize organic honey crystals as a sugar substitute?

Just like crystallized sugar, organic honey crystals can be used whatever food item you prepare, cook, or bake as well as in your beverages. They store just like how you would keep your sugar and so there is no worry about having to save gigantic tubs of honey for your use. Easy measure on a one-is-to-one proportion just as you would with sugar. Organic honey crystals are used for any item that you would ordinarily utilize sugar for.

A healthier alternative to sugar

In addition, healthy organic sugars like organic honey crystals can be a healthy alternative to refined sugars even for type 2 diabetics, when used in moderation. Of course, anyone suffering from type 2 diabetes should check with his or her healthcare practitioner before using this or any other type of sweetener. (Along the same lines, babies under one year should never be given honey or organic honey crystals, since there is a slight risk of contracting food poisoning this way; anyone over the age of one year should be able to use these and other honey-based sweeteners without any risk of food poisoning.)

Beyond all of this, though, using organic honey crystals as a sugar substitute simply gives you a great taste with honey sweetness, without all the fuss and muss. Easy to use and store, you can give your family great taste and even a little bit of nutrition besides with this sugar substitute. Give organic honey crystals a try and see if they don't make your life a little sweeter.
