So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

3 Tips For Reading Cookbooks

By Jennifer Marie Anderson

Even the most confident of culinary students can benefit from some help. It's for this reason that cookbooks should be given attention, especially when there are so many recipes worth trying. Reading comprehension is vital, which goes without saying, meaning that there is a level of care that must be exercised in this regard. To better understand how to read these texts, here is a series of 3 tips that you'd be wise to take into account.

To start off, make sure that you pay attention to every last detail. Even though you do not necessarily require the help of culinary schools for this, it's very easy to become overconfident and mistakenly overlook a critical point in a recipe. For example, if you forget to add yeast to a banana bread recipe, it can ruin the entire composition of the dish in question. Attention to detail is essential, especially when it comes to a cookbook's details.

There's also your skill level that must be taken into account. Keep in mind that most cookbooks, in this day and age, come with desirable skill levels clearly listed. This is vital, to say the least, since it lets readers understand what it is they'll be store for when creating different recipes. Such a fact is true for recipes found on the Internet, though I'm sure any online marketing company can attest to this. When you're aware of your own skill level, you can read cookbooks more effectively.

There's also the matter of keeping your cookbook by your side at all times, even when creating the recipe listed. The reason for this is that it serves as a point of reference, just in case you forget certain details along the way. Even if you're entirely confident with your knowledge regarding a specific recipe, it never hurts to have a bit of help by your side. As long as you keep your cookbook away from your ingredients, as to not get it messy, you'll be fine.

Keep in mind that cookbooks aren't always necessary for those who are going to school for culinary growth. With that said, it's not like they hurt matters, in particular for those who would like to experiment and try new things outside of the classroom. As you keep these tips in mind, you will start to understand how to effectively read a number of cookbooks. Before long, your understanding of how different foods are created will expand.

After 48 Years In Same Car, 93-Year-Old Brakes

By Cornelius Nunev

Rachel Veitch, one of the nation's oldest drivers, has been driving the exact same vehicle since 1964. But time changes all things, and last week, Veitch told the media that she has driven her last.

Enough miles to get to the moon

Florida resident Veitch has decided to quit driving after she ran a red light accidently earlier this month. She doesn't have the eyes for driving anymore at age 93. Her 48-year-old Mercury Comet Caliente could have taken her to the moon and back again with over 576,000 miles on it.

Appeared on TV

Veitch was on the Tonight show with Leno a couple of years back after the Chariot got over 559,000 miles on it. The retired nurse explained that the vehicle had made it through 18 batteries, eight mufflers, three sets of shocks and three husbands.

Veitch explained that she only went through one accident with the car, and it was a rear-end collision in 1980 where no one was hurt.

Kept vehicle well

The reason why the Chariot has been able to outlive so many other vehicles is because she took such good care of it since she acquired the vehicle in the winter of 1964 for $3,289. It has been kept in good condition with complete records of all the maintenance.

Future of Chariot uncertain

Veitch is happy about putting the new car aside, although it is unknown where it will go from here:

The Chariot will go to Wisconsin to be part of a car show in July. Then Veitch is toying with the idea of asking fellow car-aficionado Jay Leno to make her an offer.

United Yacht Transport & Taking Full Advantage Of Boat Shows

By Susan Andrews

If you're familiar with boating, chances are that you've heard of boat shows. As a matter of fact, you might have attended a few of these, as you've learned about everything that this industry has to offer. They have the support of United Yacht Transport, and it's easy to see why this is the case. With that said, you may be curious to know how to get the most from these shows. In order for this to be done, here are a few points you'd be wise to consider.

If you'd like to take part in workshops, getting the most out of them as possible, make sure that you attend various workshops. One of the reasons for this - and names such as United Yacht Transport will tell you the same - is the degree of knowledge you'll pick up from them. You'll gain a better understanding of boating, as a whole, and the fact that boat shows tend to hold a number of these seminars must be noted as well.

The variety associated with boat shows cannot be denied, either. As a matter of fact, many of these events showcase hundreds of vessels, with different purposes associated with each of them. Many of the vessels in question are designed for general travel purposes, while others are used for work, boat transport being just one example. By being exposed to so many vehicles, your understanding of this hobby is likely to expand.

If you truly want to make the most out of your time at boat shows, networking should be done. For many, this comes naturally, since they are generally sociable people who can connect to virtually anyone. Not only does this allow them to make small talk, regarding boats or what have you, but they can establish worthwhile connections in the professional sense as well. This is yet another talking point that must be taken into account.

If you make it a point to follow these steps, boat shows will prove to be all the more valuable. These events are worth getting involved in, especially if you're a fan of boating to begin with. Even though you'll gain a greater appreciation of your hobby by taking part in this endeavor, the potential act of networking is just as meaningful. Simply put, it's all a matter of how much work you're willing to put into this.

While compliance is still a crucial part of its activities, the Board now engages in the production, nutrition and market research, advertising and promotion in domestic and international markets, quality control and statistical analysis and dissemination.
