So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

The Importance Of A Top Quality Driving lesson

By Nathan Lewit

Many things we do in life we learn from others. Driving is one of these things. There are many different ways that a person can learn to drive. A family member could teach them, or they may opt to take some form of driving lessons. There are a wide variety of options that are available for someone that wants to take driving lessons. Let's look into some of them now.

Some people want to learn from a driving teacher. This route offers the coaching of a teacher that sits in the car with you as you drive with them. They will explain how to manoeuvre the vehicle in the manner that is necessary to achieve certain results, such as parallel parking. This seems to be one of the most difficult tasks that new driver's seem to have trouble with.

They will help you with the rules of the road and the other fundamentals that you need when learning to drive a vehicle. One plus of this is that a trained professional is beside you to help you in the problem areas of driving that you have if there are any. This can be a great way for the beginner to get a feel for driving.

There are also driver's education courses that schools often offer to the students. Doing this includes both in classroom type of training as well as in car at one fixed price. This could be one of the more economical ways for someone to learn how to drive. Many parents prefer this option to others for this reason in particular, especially in the tough economic times that we are in at the present time.

Both of these are great picks but keep in mind that there are important things that must be looked into. Make sure that the instructor is certified and that everything is legal with the proper agencies. Also shop around as the prices will fluctuate from area to area.

The number of lessons that are required is another thing that can be a cost factor as well so be sure to see if there are any special prices for bulk driving lessons. Thinking things out well before you do it is very important once again.

Another way that a person can learn to drive is through family members. This can be a good way for people that are on a very tight budget as the only real cost is that of the fuel needed for the car. Be aware though that come family members may not be the best driver's out there and there are things that you may be taught that are incorrect when it comes to when you take the real driving test.

There are now websites that offer written tests that can help the new driver to prepare for the written part of testing that they have to take in order to get their license. They also have videos that provide visual aids that may be of huge help to some individual's. Informative articles regarding all aspects of driving are another significant bonus that these websites also offer people that are thinking of taking driving lessons.

How To Choose A Good Air Compressor

By Ricky Green

Portable air compressors come in a number of different types and sizes. The type of air compressor one uses depends on the power needed to drive the power tools you use. Your tools should list power requirements on them. Follow these recommendations and be sure to get an air compressor that can run your most powerful tool.

When working with an compressor it is important to take all safety precautions into consideration. Wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, and other protective clothing, including safety goggles. Wear heavy boots or steel-toe work boots when working with heavy duty tools.

One of the most common portable air compressors is a portable rotary screw compressor. This machine ranges from 65 to 1600 cubic feet of air per minute with a rating from 100 to 350 pounds per square inch (psi). Once you determine the types of tools you use, you will be better able to make an informed decision.

Truck mounted compressors are easy to use space savers. They are very popular because they can be mounted in the bed of a truck or under the hood. They use the engine of the truck for power. The only consideration is that you have to keep the truck running while you use the compressor.

A deck mounted compressor will be mounted in the bed of a truck. It is portable and can be removed and left on the job site. This makes set-up and work convenient. Deck mounted compressors have their own engine, so they aren't reliant on the power from your truck.

Air compressors are available with gas and electrical powered engines. In air compressors air is stored in a holding tank. Pressure is monitored by gauges on the compressor; pressure can be regulated by the pressure valve. Compressed air is forced down an attached hose which powers tools. Of the air compressors available one of the best brands is Quincy. Quincy offers a variety of small and large air compressor models to meet any number of needs. Their rotary screw compressors range in size from ten to 350 horsepower, offering flexibility regardless of the jobs you have to do.

Considering the History of Silk

By Neta E. Talmor

Silk is an amazing luxurious material with a history that goes back to 2700 BC. Until the Silk Road introduced it to the rest of the world in 1 BC, China was the only producer and consumer of silk, and it used silk in everything from clothing to writing paper. Silk was truly a material that was reserved for those who could afford it, and wearing silk was often considered sign of wealth and affluence, especially during the Tang Dynasty.

By 300 CE production spread through the islands of Japan and in 522 CE, the Byzantines had an understanding of the technique. The Arabs started manufacturing silk about the same time and the West became slowly less dependent on the silk that was being exported out of China. Some western countries, like Italy, started exporting their own silk and made it a large part o their economy. France traded silk with Italy, but these were largely the two countries that had a great deal of trade in this luxurious material. Manufacturing processes changed a great deal during the Renaissance.

During the Industrial Revolution in Europe, the spinning wheel came to into wide usage, which ended up resulting cheaper manufacturing across the board for cotton, though silk production became more expensive. Silkworm disease epidemics took vast tolls on French silk production, while Japan began exporting a great deal of silk, the same way that China had centuries ago. China was still the largest produce of fabric in the world, though with the advent of nylon and other modern fibers, silk was no longer as rare or as highly prized as it once was.

After Europe suffered such a set back with its sericulture, Japan began to take steps to modernize their own silk industries, at which point they became the world's largest producers of silk. Italy recovered from the epidemic in a way that France never did, and European silk manufacture ceased exporting its goods to other countries. In turn, Japan started importing raw silk as Europe halted production, and in general many Eastern countries started to export more silk clothes

Japan's silk export business stopped during World War II and due to this Europe and America had to find other sources. Nylon and rayon were just two of the fabrics that replaced silk, and after the war the Japanese silk industry never caught up.

With new technology creating improvements in silk production in general, and with new and exciting fabrics coming up, Japan was still the world's leader in raw silk exports after the Second World war. By the seventies, however, product had declined and Japan stopped exporting raw silk.

China remains the world's largest producer of silk. In 1996, China produced 58,000 tons, followed in second place by India with 13,000 tons. Japan's production is very small at around 2,500 tons. In 1995 and 1997, China's silk production decreased to an astonishing 40%. The demand globally for silk in the 1990s also declined but the production was still strong in the United Kingdom and India. Silk's reputation has been tarnished due to the low quality of the fabric.

Today, 125, 000 tons of silk is still being produced around the world. The majority of the production is in China. Other countries that are producing silk are Japan, United States, Brazil, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Korea, India, and Thailand. The United States is the largest silk importer presently.

Scrapbooking - A Memorable Hobby

By Stephanie Lauder

Scrapbooking is not just putting up photos together with supplies in an album, which in itself can be a daunting task for a beginner, it is a hobby in which the most treasured moments in life are preserved for posterity, and it includes eight necessary steps which any beginner should know:

1. The 1st step involves the sorting out of the photos into subjects or themes before beginning work on the selected set.

2. After that is done, the photographs should be complemented with a few colors of acid-free paper or cardstock.

3. The third step starts with picking the one photograph which is going to be the focus of the page, and cropping it if needed.

4. To spotlight the photograph select some photographs that may be disheveled and then spice up with some journaling. You may also decorate it with some stickers and gildings and eventually stick them up on the page.

5. The fifth step is to obtain a large amount of varieties of scrapbooking supplies, but bear in mind not to get lost in the sea of variety. The supplies will include an album along with refill pages for it, pair of scissors, some glue, cardstock and printed papers, and some pens for writing in the journal.

6. One of the most important facets of scrapbooking is journaling. Without journaling the scrapbook with just the pictures in it will look meaningless, especially after a long time has passed and people have forgotten the relevance.

7. Journaling is creating a tale round the image and may contain a title as well as a date for simple remembrance or it may be giant paragraphs. The key parts to good journaling are : it should be written from the heart, using a poem or quote and fonts should be used sparingly.

8. After you have mastered the art of scrapbooking basics, you shouldn't have a problem creating a cool scrapbook, and you can share the completed pages in it with your folks as well as others. If you are looking for some inspiration to make an even better scrapbook, then it would be a great idea to share your scrapbook with some likeminded scrapbookers.

Paper Bags Also Have Advantages

By Simon Green

In the US and other countries, when someone shops, they are given an option to choose whether they want their newly purchased merchandise to be placed in a plastic bag or a paper bag. Many stores actually stock both and it is not hard for some customers to actually carry out both depending on what they have bought. Plastic bags are easily stealing the limelight because they are attractive and shopping outlets are able to embroid them with different designs and use them for advertising. They are also water-proof which comes in handy when doing grocery shopping because some foods are stored in or around water, eg fruits. But paper bags have been able to hold their forte too and have also retained their popularity over the years.

Paper bags first hit the scene in the 1800s. This was when the modern retail revolution as we know it today was spreading around the West and most of the major retailers that we know today were being born. It was a time when the world was rapidly modernizing and people were shopping in the newly created department and grocery stores. This was a stark contrast to earlier times when most stores were full-service, with someone behind the counter to get you whatever you wanted. The new stores were self-service and customers could walk inside the store from one isle to another and choose from the different rows that were filled with an assortment of goods and foods. Customers usually had access to a shopping basket which could either be carried or pushed. After the customer made their way to the cash register, there the dilemma began. An ordained clergyman, Francis Wolle, who was at the time working in a family-owned store, saw the need to develop a bag where shoppers could bag their purchases. He was later contracted by the Union Paper company to produce a version of the bag for them and there was no looking back. The paper bags that we know today were in existence.

Paper bags have their own inherent advantages. One of the advantages is cost. Almost all indications show that the world is in a global recession and companies are trying everything they can to compete. They are doing this by cutting costs and one of the ways companies can cut costs is in buying paper bags instead of plastic bags.

Another advantage accrued from paper bags is safety. Shoppers who have chilldren are weary of plastic bags because when children get a hold of them and play with them, there is a risk of asphyxiation. This has caused many deaths in the past. With paper bags this risk is greatly minimized because if one plays with a paper bag, the worst that can happen is that it is shredded and contributes to litter.

Paper bags are also stronger now than they used to be. This was as a result of numerous complaints that they were brittle and hence could not contain a reasonable weight of groceries.

The importance of selecting the right bath tub

By jorge fernandez

If you are like most people, we spend a large amount of our free time in the bathroom. Although women are more likely than men to enjoy the benefits of a nice long soak in a bath, more men than ever have admitted to soaking in the bath at least three times a week. Therefore, it is of no surprise that one should take their time in selecting out the perfect bathtub for their respective house.

If you are remodeling or rennovating your existing bathroom or building your own custom home, you should think long and hard about the size, shape, color and other features of your bathtub. Obviously, you can only work with the space provided to you in your house, apartment or condominium - but you will be surprised with the options afforded to you now.

The first thing will obviously be the size of the bathtub. Most likely you will be somewhat limited on the size of the bathtub based upon the size of your bathroom. Additionally, the larger the bathtub, the more expensive it will be to purchase and maintain as a result of more water and higher electrical bills because you will need to use more energy to heat up the water. Nowadays, you have the option of a single person bathtub or even a two-person bathtub. Personally, if you are lucky enough to have the room, I prefer the two-person bathtub for all of the obvious reasons. Whichever size you choose, always be aware that the size is large enough to support your entire body including your back, neck and head.

Next thing to consider will be the color of the bathtub. You do not need to be an interior designer to know that the color of yourbathtub should match the colors of your bedroom and most importantly your bathroom. The nice thing about bathtubs is that you are no longer limited to just the plain, porcelain, white tub anymore. There is a wide variety of colorss that you will be able to choose from. You can choose bold and vivid colors like green, red, blue, pink or green or stay more traditional with the light brown, typical white or off-white colors.

The last thing you will need to decide on is the features of your bathtub. Like most items out there, you have a wide variety of different features that come with the bathtubs. A few of my favorite extra features are whirlpools, jet streams, walk-in bath tubs, free standing tubs (i.e., not attached to the floor) and traditional Japanese deep bathtubs that come with mini massagers. The walk in tubs are basically tubs that have a door you open and walk through and then shuts behind you before you start running the water. This is very handy for senior citizens or for those with certain handicaps.

I think most of us will agree that a big long soak inside a tub is a great way to finish off the day after working hard or playing sports. Therefore, before you select a tub, be sure to take the above items into consideration and do not skimp on your quality of life!
