So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Can Stretch Marks Go Away After Giving Birth?

By Rashel Dan

How can stretch marks go away after giving birth? Most pregnant women ask this same question. But answering this question is not an easy task. Stretch marks are actually scars. As we all know, scars are difficult to get rid of. If this is the case, then do stretch marks go away?

How Do I Get Stretch Marks?

These are the thin yet long embossed streaks on your skin. They develop when the skin is pulled by rapid stretching. When the skin is overstretched, the production of collagen is interrupted. Once the creation of the protein that strengthens the tissues of your skin is decreased, stretch marks start to form because the tissues of your skin can easily break.

Most pregnant women are plagued by stretch marks. These often appear on the abdomen because the belly is rapidly stretching. This happens at the later stages of the pregnancy because the baby is now growing bigger. Some women also get scars on their thighs, hips, buttocks, and breasts. If this occurs during pregnancy, can stretch marks go away after you've given birth? The answer to this question is yes.

Stretch marks do fade away after a while. These scars start out as pink, purple or dark brown. Over time they fade and their color turns silver or white. Now you ask the second question, do stretch marks go away for good? The answer to this is that they never totally disappear.

How Do I Get Rid Of Stretch Marks?

Many creams and lotions in the market claim that they do make stretch marks go away. However, only a few of them are effective. If you want to be sure that your stretch marks will be removed in its entirety, you may need to visit a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon.

The many types of methods that they can possibly use to cure can range from major surgery to microdermabrasion. Some surgeons will also suggest laser surgery as a treatment option. This technique has been gaining popularity because a laser beam is used to burn off the top layer of scarring skin. The good thing about this treatment is that you will suffer only minimal pain without the risk of bleeding.

As mentioned, these treatments are very effective but can be very costly. And because this is a cosmetic procedure, your health insurance plan will not cover it for you and you will have to pay out of your own pocket.

For a more practical approach to removing stretch marks, you can apply sunless tanning treatments. Regular tanning or tanning beds don't work well. The reason behind this is that stretch marks are less likely to tan and the ultraviolet rays can do more harm than good to your skin. If you use tanning lotions and sprays, these will help you cover up your marks.

Some people would also try concealing their stretch marks with body makeup that match your skin tone. Some of these are water-resistant, so you can use these products as cover-ups to make it look like that you have already found the answer to the burning question "do stretch marks go away"?
