Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Discover How To Maintain & Restore Your Old Lionel Trains

Has your Lionel train seen fresher days? Wouldn't it be nice to see it chugging about on its path over again, radiating the comparable beauty as the day it was found that Christmas morning so long ago?

Amending and reestablishing your old Lionel train can be very fulfilling. You can relish in the warm freshness of memories of past, and then make young memories to go along with them!

How do you mend Lionel Trains?

The 1st step in mending an old Lionel train is to get it all cleansed up.

Wipe it all off with a soft cloth to dispatch debris and dirt.

You can take out rust with rust remover or sand paper. If you see green or snappy white spots, that is oxidation, and you can remove it with oxidization remover.

The final part in your cleaning is to wipe down the tracks, the wheels of the cars, and any moving parts with a light oil spray. Use Q-Tips soaked with the oil to get into smaller areas, like the wheels, and use a soft cloth soaked with the oil for the tracks. Buff it all up with a clean part of the cloth.

Arrange a pat of the oil on any moving regions, and function it in so that they run smoothly and easy. You can apply a toothpick to catch tiny bits of oil for the small divisions.

You can start to repair it now that it's clean.

Make sure all the pieces of the track fit together tightly. If they don't, then bend the connections back into position with average pairs of pliers. It might take a few tests to get them simply in good order, simply you should be able to get a challenging fit.

Take the bodies off of your cars, and visit the insides. Clean them as before, and reckon for broken sections. Its genuinely easy to exchange these divisions yourself. You can buy them at a Lionel trains specialization storage, many hobby storehouses, or get them from Lionel trains regions catalogues. Simply unscrew them and screw in the replacement part.

Finally, does your train move? Check it after you've cleansed it all, because built up soil and grease could cause the link between the train and the track to be so hard that it prevents it from running. If it's clean and still doesn't run, check to see if the plug is functioning. If the plug reckons OK, it may be that the transformer requires repair or replacing.
