So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Do It Yourself Bathroom Remodeling

By Adam Peters

How to Remodel Bathrooms

Bathrooms can be used in multiple ways. Besides refreshing oneself, it can also be used in preparing and planning for your future.

These multiple functions make bathroom designing a challenging task. But also provides with an opportunity to style what is often known as the smallest room in the house to suit the most important needs.

How to Maximize the Available Space: Usually people don't get the chance to build their bathrooms as spacious as they might want it to be. But if we notice, there are usually some wasted space that can be brought into use.

Keeping in mind the heights of the people whom will be using the bathroom, the basic thing that can be done is to relocate the shelves, cabinets along the corners. That can free up counter space for makeup application, shaving and other things.

Shelves are often placed at chest or chin height which are generally used to store spare towels, perfume bottles, etc. Relocate these shelves higher. This will make some extra space. For shorter members of the household, provide a stool.

Cost is always a hinderance, but there are two ways to maximize your money's worth.

One way is to select higher quality materials and accept a higher initial outlay. The longer use will make the average cost per year the same as using cheaper materials with a shorter life span.

If that's not feasible, plan it so that lower quality materials can be easily replaced every couple of years. Use screws into L-shaped hooks for large bathroom mirrors instead of gluing them as removing the glue is a difficult and a time consuming job.

Make sure that you leave enough space in your budget to get quality shower fittings. If you make a compromise on the quality of these, it may lead to leaks and more frequent replacement.

Consider heating options. Surprisingly, after so many years electrical heating has become more cost-effective than gas, especially for small, confined spaces like bathrooms. If you're planning for a floor tile replacement, now is a good time to install radiant under-floor heating.

If bathroom remodeling projects are carried out in chunks, it can be made further easy on your budget and your back. If floors are done in the first month, cabinets can be taken care of in the next, then showers or toilets and so forth. Plan ahead and you can create the perfect personal space that gives you the ideal place to wash your cares away.
