So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

This write-up will shed light on some steps, that are both easy and simple, to cut down or to do away outrageously-priced electric bills.

A very basic yet infamous step that most people ignore is to limit the actual use of electric power. You can start with the very room where you are in at this point in time. If you will have to leave it for some time, are you not going to check first if there are any electrical gadgets that are on as you leave? Remember to turn off all electric appliances. Simply switching them off is not enough; it also means removing the socket from the source. It may be simple but this step can help. Each penny is needed to make up a dollar.

Small investments in smart gadgets: One example of a smart move is switching from incandescent light bulbs to compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. Despite the small amount of investment, these CFL bulbs can save you energy and money.

Power Save gadgets: These gadgets enable you to monitor the supply of power in your home. Also, they control the minimum amount of power that your household needs.

Home appliances: It is but inevitable for a household to continue increasing the number of electric appliances it utilizes. However, the manner of using these appliances dictates whether it will increase the electric bill or not. So as to control the use of energy of these appliances, here are some tips:

Delay the use of the washing machine until such time when there are lots of clothes to wash

Constantly check the settings of your air-conditioning unit and your furnace. Thermostats that can be programmed can help a busy family.

Switch off the TV, computer monitor, and other electric appliance when not in use even for only a short period of time.

In addition to decreasing the use of electrical power, you can also set up a home solar or wind power system that can generate practically free energy for you. Actually, this is becoming a common practice among many American homeowners. It is also becoming a practice all over the world. Remember that a decrease in your electric bill by saving electricity is one way of saving the earth as well.
