So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Leapster 2 Learning Game System - a Review

By Linda Jenkins

Leapster 2 Learning Game System is a handheld toy that connects to the LeapFrog Learning Path and is designed to help preschoolers learn online. They'll be able to play games on the go or they can log on to get more options and some great rewards. There's a library of over thirty games, full of characters kids love.

They Will Learn Without Realizing They Are Learning

Basic setup is relatively easy. Just install the batteries and navigate through a few screens to create users profiles. Then, use the menu screen to play pre-loaded games, insert a cartridge, or go online. Unfortunately, online options for the Leapster 2 Learning Game System were initially delayed by a month, frustrating many parents. However, they're now functional, offering all the games and rewards that were promised. Just make sure you have a little time to deal with the website and network.

When the children play the Leapster 2 Learning Game System they will learn many of the same things they learn in school. Playing the games which are combined with educational exercises provided on this handheld game is a great learning experience for kids from 4 to 8 years old.

Here are a few of the skills they will learn when they use the Leapster 2.

1) The alphabet - Since most children learn the 'abc song' before they start to pre-school or kindergarten this helps them to recognize the letters about which they are singing.

2) Adding Numbers - By knowing which numbers mean what amount they can learn to count certain sets of objects to know how many are in the group.

3)Music - This is important in the learning process as a form of self-expression as well. Learning music will help them to learn about the different types of poetry later.

This system is ready to go when purchased with starter games which are built in to the system. The 'Dragons to the Rescue! Learning Game', for example, is a type of video game featuring four levels of action. This game helps children to learn to recognize letters and numbers. The more advanced level coaches them on spelling and multiplication. By maneuvering a dragon around huge storm clouds and collecting magic crystals they learn how to distinguish how many crystals they have accumulated.

The Leapster 2 Learning Game System has had many great reviews from parents whose children have been using these games. They have expressed amazement at how quickly their children learn while playing the games on Leapster 2. The part that really amazes them is they are learning without even realizing they are learning.
