So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Boys Clothing Can be Just as Fashionable as Girls

By Katie Wilber

Believe it or not, in the early 1900's it was not uncommon to find baby boys in dresses. In fact, early in the 20th century little boys were pretty much dressed up the same as little girls. Sure there was a sailor outfit here and there, but there was also a lot of silk and lace woven into boy's clothing. Eventually boys clothing got much less formal and bleak by the middle of the century.

Mothers-to-be have commonly been heard saying, "I want a little girl so I can dress her up. Dressing boys is no fun." Who could blame them? For a long time it seemed as though the clothes available for baby boys and little boys were pretty much limited to t-shirts, jeans, and baseball caps.

Well, we might not put boys in dresses or pigtails, but the options have come a very long way over the last decade or so. Boys clothing used to come in simple fabrics with a very limited color scheme. Finding anything cute or out of the ordinary was a very difficult task.

Boys can be just as fashionable as girls these days. With kids becoming independent thinkers early than ever, designers are standing up and taking notice. Long gone are the days of focusing on just the young girls. Boys want to have their own style, and the designers are giving them options. Now you can find original, quirky, colorful clothes for both sexes.

From Target and Sears to boutique designers like Sweet Potatoes and Knuckleheads, the industry has taken notice of the need to make fashionable boys clothing. It's no longer an acceptable excuse to claim that shopping for boys is no fun.

If there's a mini rock-and-roller in your family, there should be no issue finding him clothing that fits with his interests and personality. It's very common to walk into any department store and find rock star and graphic t-shirts for young boys. A stroll through the boy's jean section will lead to up-to-date jeans that rival the style and selection of the young girl's choices.

There was a time when athletes were the only ones sporting jerseys, and only out on the field. Today, walking around in athletic gear is stylish. Kids don't even have to play on a team to get away with it. All they need to do is hit any store and they'll find sports inspired t-shirts, hoodies, and even less casual polo shirts. Whether they want something generic or something inspired by their favorite sports team, the local shopping mall will have something to please any sports fan. Another popular trend is sports inspired newborn clothing.

Fashion for boys isn't limited to just clothing. They now have a huge line of shoes and accessories that can rival the girl's choices.

To find fashionable shoes look no further than local department stores, chain shoe stores, and even online stores. From casual shoes to boots and skating (skateboarding) shoes, there is no shortage of styles to pick from whether shopping in stores or online.

Whether you have a rocker, athlete, or casual boy, he has as many style choices as young girls. Boys can still dress down and dirty in their t-shirts, jeans, and baseball caps, but at least now they have a choice in the matter.
