So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Who Says a Vacation Can't Be One Day?

By Frank Isaching

Cruises are a very popular choice for a vacation. Who says you have to use up your entire vacation on a cruise? Travel agencies and cruise companies are now offering three-day cruises or even a one-day cruise. One-day cruises are the perfect solution for certain holidays. Imagine the look on your wife's face when you take her on a one-day cruise for your wedding anniversary. This will be a gift she will always remember and treasure. Depending on what the occasion, there are many holiday locations to choose from as your travel agent will happily tell you.

Although weekends are the busiest, you can go any day of the week. When they first started giving one-day cruises, you were almost stuck sailing around in the same small area like starting in New York and ending at Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. Another common short cruise was Long Beach, California and heading straight to Catalina Island and back. While these were fun when they first came out, there is much more. The choices and options has really increased since then.

Now when you go on a one-day cruise, they make the most of their time so you get the most for your money. Imagine getting on a ship in New England in the morning and winding up in Florida the same day. Carnival Cruise offers you great trips like this as well as a trip down the west coast or into Mexico as well.

Hawaii has always been one of the most popular holiday locations. There are one-day cruises in Hawaii that take your around to all the other islands. If you happen to be vacationing in Hawaii, this would be a great little voyage. Unless, of course, you are lucky enough to live in Hawaii, in which case you can take this trip on the weekend or special holidays just to get away.

There are many choices available all over the world. Some of the more popular ones are the Greek Isles. You'll probably want to spend more than a day in France to visit the, but a one-day cruise on the Mediterranean will be a great start. Italy is another country that has different waterways, all with different ships available. You will also want to take some time to visit the costume museum in Florence if you get the chance.

Whether it's a one-day cruise for a vacation or a holiday, these trips are reasonably priced and a lot of fun. Many individuals that are alone choose to take a one-day Thanksgiving cruise. Fireworks may even be on the itinerary for the very popular 4th of July cruise.

San Diego offers some great short tours around the bay. The weather is always seasonably warm and the scenery is beautiful. Monterey, California has many small cruise ships near the aquarium. Better have your camera with for all the otters, seals and possibly whales you'll see.

It's important to know that most of the cruises that are advertised as one-day cruises actually consist of staying overnight at the end of the day and heading back the next day. There are some that are truly only one day, but be sure you clarify what you want before your purchase. Either way, they are both great ways to spend a day or two.
