So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Do It Yourself Home Security, An Inexpensive Way To Protect Your Belongings.

By Leonard Rigsby

96 homes are broken into every day. This Costs victims an average of $13,000. Do it yourself home security popularity has increased because of this. There are several options to choose from that can prevent this from happening to you.

Your first concern when planning a do it yourself home security project is replacing window locks. Then you should consider installing either magnetic or glass breaking sensors.

Security companies agree that wooden door with a thickness of at least 1 "are the best exterior doors. It should fit tight not leaving more than 1/8 "between the door and door jam. To increase protection Install a wrought Irion security door in front of exterior door.

All of your doors should be kept locked at all times with dead bolts. If your door has a glass window, use the lock that requires a key on both sides. Otherwise the burglar could break the window to get to the latch. You could replace glass with break resistant plastic or install a grill on the inside. You should secure your deadbolt with 3" screws, installing the strike plate in a stud not the door jam

You can find sliding glass doors on the market that increases security of the sliding doors. If your home has French doors use slide rod locks at the top and bottom of your door. You can also employ dome switches to enhance security.

You can find either hard wired system or a wireless burglar alarms system. Hard wired is less expensive but needs specific wiring. The wireless uses radioactive signal making it easier to use and move.

You can include motion detectors in your Do it yourself home security project. This type of system monitors your home though utilization of radio energy, or sound waves reflection. When the reflection is broken an alarm is triggered.

You can install wireless CCTV cameras on the exterior of your home. They monitor and record the area. Some send images to a web address, which notifies you if problem arises. Security cameras you should be set the in areas that are difficult to see.

You should begin your do it yourself home security project by replacing window and doors locks. Next install magnetic sensors and/ or dome sensors. Other ways to protect belongings is by replacing pet flaps with radio active ones and installing wireless CCTV cameras in exterior places that are hard to see. Lastly use security signs to increase your family's safety.
