So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

TV Stands For Flat Screens

By Ricky Green

Television stands are just as important as the television itself. These days where buying a television almost means buying a flat screen TV, you need a good TV stand to keep it safe. Remember that you paid a lot for that new flat screen TV so buying any old TV stand just won't work. There are many things to know about TV stands that will work well and look good in your new flat screen television.

The screen size of today's flat panel TV is often larger than the conventional ones but the depth of the screen is always far less. So, the TV stand doesn't have to be as large to be able to hold the television. However, there is another important thing to consider.

There's more to a flat panel TV than just the size. It's aspect ratio is different from the conventional TV. Conventional TV's have a ratio of 4:3 which makes it look almost like square. Flat TV's, however, have 16:9 which appears to be rectangular. This aspect ratio contain both the HDTV and film formats and provides a great watching experience.

You have to be keen in choosing a TV stand. It has to be wide enough to protect the length of the TV screen otherwise, the ends would protrude the edge and someone could bump into it and knock it over.

More and more styles for TV stands have been popping. There are longer, narrower and sometimes lowered to the ground. But the most popular these days is the flat entertainment center. These types provide a flat, wall-like surface on which to mount the television and the space either at the bottom or on the sides for storages.

Interestingly, many people choose not to buy any TV stand at all. Where do they mount the TV, you may ask? They mount it directly on the wall and run the wiring through it. They would just simply add a small furniture where they could use it as a storage.

When shopping for a media stand always keep in mind the safety of your television. Get a stand or mount that will support your television and at the same time blend with your overall style.
