So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Update Your Light Fixtures If You Want to Sell Your Home Faster

By Tom Sanderrs

Did you know your home might not be selling because of your light fixtures? And changing them could make all the difference between getting a pass or getting a bona fide offer to purchase?

It sounds too easy, doesn't it? But if you have your house on the market and it's just not moving, it could be that your house looks a bit dated. Some of the things that really "date" a home include paint colors and decor, bathroom and kitchen fixtures and counters, appliances, carpeting, and believe it or not, the light fixtures! While bathroom and kitchen sinks and showers can be expensive and time consuming to replace, painting rooms in more neutral or current colors can be a great way to update your home inexpensively. And while replacing appliances and carpeting are also a pricey fix, replacing the light fixtures is quick and easy-and it makes a dramatic difference!

Now we will see how having the wrong light fixtures can be keeping your home from selling quickly. Also you will learn how that problem can be remedied in just a few hours.

In recent years there has been an increase in the variety of lighting and fixtures available. This choice was not available in the past and that is why some older homes have unattractive and unappealing light fixtures. These are often the regular looking round ceiling lights or the square plate fixtures that have the bulbs under them. These are very boring and it may appear to potential buyers that these lights are found in almost every home of a certain age.

A look in the bathroom and you will probably see a piece of wood over the mirror and on it a strip of light bulbs. Of course there are also the sconces that look similar to brass on either side of the mirror. Both of these fixtures have probably also seen better times and are not in ideal condition anymore.

The fixtures in the hall have the same problem. The plain overhead light that is in no way capable of properly lighting up the hallway. In the kitchen and dining room there is the same problem, but this time with the formerly standard ceiling fan fixture with the light and tons of dust. It is no wonder that potential home buyers aren't impressed by this and notice it immediately.

If you look at your home's style now-objectively-there's a high probability the lighting and light fixtures don't match your current or more modern decor and you've just gotten so used to them, that you don't even notice what they look like anymore. But buyers will!

Now take a look at some of the home magazines featuring homes in a style similar to yours. Compare the light fixtures in those pictures to the light fixtures in your home. It's pretty obvious, isn't it? Those old fixtures have got to go.

Visit your local home store or look online to see all the different styles of lighting and light fixtures available today. The choices are almost overwhelming! From beautiful pendant lights to monorail and track railing systems, wall sconces, and gorgeous chandeliers, you'll find the perfect lighting solution that fits the style of your home-and enhances its potential. And when you invest in new light fixtures and take a day to install them (or hire a professional), your home buyers will look at your home "in a whole new light!
