So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Using Accent Rugs to Make Your Room Brighter

By Catherine Parlaman

Area rugs can make a wonderful accent to any room and make the space come alive. Gone are the days when a rug just has to sit in front of the fire hearth, or in a high traffic area to protect the carpet underneath, the modern day rug has flourished into something much, much more.

Placing accent rugs in a room's decor will just give it that element it may have been missing. It will brighten up the rooms look along with giving it a cozier and more welcome feeling into the design. Make sure when shopping around for an accent rug it is the correct size and shape you are looking to place in the room. Something too large may offset the look of the room.

The simple addition of an accent rug can change the whole appearance of the room, for both the person who resides there and visitors to the home. Some careful planning will help you get the right accent rug, which will complement the decor that you already have, or it can even be the starting point for the inspiration for decorating an entire room.

An accent rug is called so, because they help to bring a cohesion to a room's design. The color will be all important so that there are no issues of the accent rug clashing with the walls, and choosing one from the same color range can simply add a finishing touch a room's decor.

Along with color, the pattern is also important. Don't be fooled by color when the pattern itself may not work with other furnishing within a room. The other consideration is size. The accent rug should be assuming and something that blends into the background, but at the same time would be missed were it not there.

Accent rugs aren't just to give it a different look in a rooms look but to save the floor from the basic wear which it receives from being walked on daily. Placing one in front of the entry way or in other busy areas will save the life of the floor.

Placing a great accent rug in the entry way of your home, you'll slow the wear and tear on the flooring. The rug will take most of the beating rather than the floor itself.

Rugs are one of those items you can just toy around with. If you don't like the look in one room, try it in another. They can always be switched around to give it as if you bought something new for a room. Before placing the rug in a specific spot in the room, look around to see where it will best be suitable. If the rug is placed in the proper location you won't need many to make the room look great!
