So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Acid Reflux Pillow: Is It Your Best Alternative?

By Richal Peyton

Acid reflux is triggered by a lot of factors. These factors can vary from the food you eat to certain exercises. But you can also develop acid reflux merely by sleeping. This is usually nothing unusual to any doctor because when one lies down, acid from the stomach can easily slide up into the esophagus, thus a reflux. Doctors will often recommend that you recline your upper body at a certain angle every bedtime. However, common methods like placing extra pillows under your head can cause a lot of strain and discomfort. An acid reflux pillow might be your best choice to cure your condition.

What's It For - Sufferers of acid reflux will often need an acid reflux pillow because lying down simply encourages acid from the stomach to reach and damage the inner lining of the esophagus. When using a special pillow, gravity is able to help keep acid stay in the stomach rather than refluxing to the esophagus. There are a lot of benefits to using a special pillow.

Use the pillow to elevate your head and shoulders. By slightly elevating the head and shoulders, acid from the stomach have more difficulty passing through to the esophageal sphincter and into the esophagus. Piling your pillows on top of each other can do this. One of the major benefits of using a special pillow though is that it will not cause sprains after awhile, as it is designed to ergonomically fit your body.

The good thing about using pillow as a remedy is that it has no side effects. It is not at all risky compared to using drugs or going through surgery. Some drugs that aim to treat acid reflux can actually cause a rebound effect in the production of acids in the stomach. By using a special pillow, you don't have to worry about relapses, headaches, or discomfort.

Furthermore, investing in a special pillow can save you so much more money in the long run. It is affordable and the best thing about it is that you can use it for life. Some conventional treatments can only be safely used for a short while, and so cannot give you long-term results.

How It Works - How acid reflux pillows work is simple. They elevate the head and shoulders just enough to keep the acid down (through gravity) as well as to keep you comfortable. How safe, comfortable and convenient a pillow is depends on what its features are.

Getting Used to the Position - Generally, users will feel a bit of discomfort when using acid reflux pillows for the first time. This happens only because your body needs to get used to its new sleeping position, and it usually doesn't take long until it does. After you start to feel comfortable with the new sleeping position, you're able to benefit from the special pillow for life.

Foam or Plastic - There are so many kinds of acid reflux pillows, but most come with a foam or plastic material. There are many special pillows that have nice, soft material and you can always have a seamstress make a covering that fits them well. The one feature to look out for is adjustability. You'd want your pillow to be able to adjust well to your body so that you'll feel comfortable in just a matter of days. Find pillows that are inflatable and allow you to adjust it for your specific needs.
