So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Celebrating Halloween

By Russ D. Edwards

Some forges are overly protective and they do not want to let their kids go trick or treating. If you're one of those oldsters, you have to find some other methods to make them have a good time and here are a few options.

The first is make contact with your local community or recreation center to find out if they have any planned activities for Halloween. They may have a costume party or a night filled with games for everybody to enjoy.

For those who do not need their kids to go trick or treating in the streets, their youngsters can still do this by going to the mall. The reason is because some shopping malls encourage their tenants to provide candies and other goodies for shoppers. There are also costume parades and contests that the youngsters will love to watch and maybe win a few prizes.

If you live in a small town, probabilities are there's an activity for the evening like maybe a dance or a performance.

You can also go with your children and visit a haunted house. This event is usually subsidized by the local people to generate funding and what they do is hire a house for the evening, decorate the place and scare people all in the meaning of fun.

For people who do not want to go out and just stay at home, let the people come instead by hosting a Halloween party. You can plan it weeks ahead so you have some time to buy the decorations, stock up on food and send out the invitations.

You and yours children can then spend special time together by putting the door up like hang fake spider webs through the entry way after cutting them out using black construction paper, put out tombstones made of plastic that may be made or purchased from craft stores and naturally pumpkins which you can carve out yourself.

As for sounds, you can download some songs as we all sound effects into you MP3 player then just put speakers round the house. To form a misty atmosphere when people approach your house, buy some dry ice.

The sole way your guests will have an excellent time is to make sure there's a lot of food and drinks to go round. So they don't bored, plan a few fun and games that everyone can participate in. One game you would love is apple bobbing where you put some apples in the bathtub or basin and then let the participators pick it up using their teeth.

As for dinner, serve spaghetti that look like eyeballs, tomato soup and a few other dishes that are ideal for the occasion.

Since there will be youngsters attending the party, make sure there are games for them also. One game could be pinning the skeleton which is similar to pin the donkey. You can also bake caramel apples so that the youngsters can just grab them when they need another one.

Because youngsters love candy, be sure that there are tons of them around. Do not forget to thank everyone for coming by preparing loot bags that they can bring home.

Planning and hosting a Halloween party takes a lot of work but its all worth it if everybody was ready to have a fun time. The one thing to do now when the party is over is clean up and return things to the way they were.
