So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Begin Your Day Feeling Energized With The Tasty Smoothie Recipes

By Bertie Hunt

There are a vast number of smoothie recipes which are wonderful to have at anytime of the day, From breakfast, through lunch and onto dinner, they are great no matter the time. Here is a whistle-stop tour of a few to get your own whistles well wettened.

Breakfast is the most important time of the day; when the body is all geared up to take on board as many nutrients as possible. With that in mind, here is one of the all time classic breakfast smoothie recipes. And only taking about five minutes to make, it will not disrupt the usual mayhem.

All you need is 1 small ripe banana and a mix or one of 140g of blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. The banana needs to sliced and put into a blender along with the berry selection. The ingredients should be blended until smooth, and poured into a serving glass. To reach a smoother consistency, apple juice or water can be blended in.

Moving onto the afternoon, here too there is a great recipe for a pick me up. Particularly great after a long morning, it contains everything that is necessary. With a quick instant hit of sweet sugar for immediate action, slow release sugars to keep things going through the day, and proteins to keep the body and mind working well, it really is ideal.

A sliced banana, 250ml of soya milk, 1 teaspoon of honey and 2 teaspoons of oats is all that is needed. Blended until very smooth and served in chilled glasses with grated nutmeg and maybe some hazelnuts will make this delicious drink complete.

As the day draws to a close, relaxing with a little bit of fizz is always nice. This recipe takes a little longer than most smoothies to prepare, but delivers a tasty, tempting and little bit naughty tipple. Ideal for parties too, the recipe here is for one or two.

Simply prepare a quarter piece of a mango and a papaya, a 40g serving of mixed berries, (frozen work well here), half a cup of orange juice and the same again for grapefruit juice. These should all be piled into the blender and mixed until smooth. Topping with a sparkling white finishes.

No matter the time of the day, there is always good reason to put together one of the many smoothie recipes. Providing a healthy alternative to heavy meals, they are great for all the family. Leaving the alcohol out for the kiddies is advisable of course!
