So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Don't Be The One Biting The Dust, Beat The Dust Instead

By Aiden Mundt

Do you find yourself coming up with excuses when it comes to cleaning, dusting and vacuuming? Simply because the mere sight of dust wears you down, perhaps? Sounds like you could use these tips for beating the dust so you don't need to clean nearly as much. Interested? Of course you are.

Clean the filter of your air conditioner frequently especially during the summer. This is easy to do. Just take out the filter and use the vacuum to suck up the accumulated dust. If the filter is extremely dirty or dusty, then it's time for a replacement. Cheap and easy.

Did you know the worst indoor dirt carriers are your shoes? Yours and everybody else's. So to prevent uninvited sand, grit and dirt, place a doormat or towel on the floor near the door. Then make sure everyone wipes their shoes before entering your sacred halls.

Don't make it a habit to clean up your door screens only when they've gotten so bad you can hardly see through them. Anymore you don't need to take the whole screen off and hose it down, because with a handy dry sponge used for pet hair, you can clean your dirty door screens.

It is always best to take down your curtains and wash them or take them to the dry cleaners at least during your annual spring cleaning day. But since you may ignore that advice, simply vacuum them using your brush attachment to suck up any built up dust.

Ceiling and standing fans needs constant cleaning if you want your house to be dust free. You see, dust accumulates on the blades. When you turn the fan on, dust particles will circulate with the air inside the room and fall on the floor or table tops.

If there is one household staple that accumulates the most dust it would be your carpet. Yes, you may not see the dust but it doesn't mean it is not there because dust and dirt love to settle in among the carpet fibers. So vacuum your carpets often. All areas at least once a week and high traffic areas more often if possible.

Keep your hardwood floors dust free by damp mopping them. This is better than sweeping or vacuuming. After mopping, you can dust-proof the floors using liquid floor wax. Let the wax dry and finish off with a dry wipe down.

Beating the dust out of your home doesn't have to be a full time job. It is completely manageable and something you can control. By acting on these tips you need not let cleaning take over your life as a dreaded daily routine.
