So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Kopi Luwak, World's Best Coffee Brand

By Shibalik Sanyal

Kopi Luwak coffee comes from Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi some islands in western Indonesia. These areas are well-known for their excellent coffee. Sumatran coffee beans are different, more complex, with good sharpness, exciting lively mid-tones and a long finish. For people who love to drink coffee, a cup of Jamaican Blue Mountain in nothing special, but a cup of Kopi Luwak will leave no regrets in their life. Interested! Read out the article & discover more facts about it.

History of Kopi Luwak Well, where from should I start? It has a close connection with the history of Indonesian coffee production. The Dutch introduced the coffee plantations in their colony some where in the islands of Java and Sumatra. The native farmers and plantation workers were not allowed to pick coffee fruits for their own use. Eventually these local farmers learned that certain species of luwak (a.k.a Asian palm civet) use to have these coffee beans as their foods. Most interesting thing is, these little animals can somehow sense the best and sweetest beans to eat. They seeds remain undigested and left in their poops. The Luwak's dropping coffee seeds were then collected by the farmers. After washing them several times, they roasted and grinded it to make coffee beverage. From then on, the aromatic flavor touched every one's heart.

What makes kopi luwak most expensive coffee? Normally coffee beans are made by fermentation. But in this case, the beans are fermented in the civet cat's intestine. This generates a unique taste. The unique fermentation process makes an enormous difference with the general one. It's total annual production is less than 500 pounds. The rare production has been making this coffee expensive from the colonial days in 18th century to the present day.

How much it will cost to you? The market review on kopi luwak, 2008-09 confirmed that, it has a price tag of $100-$600 per pound. Where the special Vietnamese weasel coffee can cost upto $6600 per kilogram ($3000 per pound).

There are so called good coffee brands in the market, e.g. Bosch, Krups, Melitta, Saeco etc. But kopi luwak has no match for it. It has the only one of its kind flavor. Moreover, it doesn't have the bitterness like other brands have. The exotic flavor feels sometime chocolaty or sometime it feels like orange. But the appropriate description is it has an earthy, syrupy, smooth and rich undertone and a long end. So of you really love coffee and haven't tried it yet, then go for it and experience the quality of richness.
