So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Easiest cake recipe

By Linda Groswell

The recipe book I had explained it as an easy to cake recipe, but I've managed to do it all wrong! The butter ended up being to hard, the batter was runny and your cake is burnt at the edges and sunken in the middle.

Most importantly don't let this set you back - even accomplished bakers have cake malfunctions sometimes; and as we're mentioning this, easy cake making recipes isn't just all about how it ends up looking. Remember a cake doesn't necessarily have to look good to taste great. If your cake does go wrong, there's no need to waste it either - get the parts which can still be eaten and freeze them you can pop them in a trifle or tiramisu, then let your dog have the rest.

On this part of the article you will learn some basic but valuable tips so you can achieve easy cake recipe baking skills and make you (if not your dog) happier more often when creating delicious homemade cakes.

Preparing your tin for baking. Generously smear the butter on the inside of the tin, lard or margarine if bought in wrappers make sure to save these as they can be used for greasing). Recipes usually ask you to line the tin with grease proof paper but aluminium foil works just as well and is easier to fold into corners. when a round tin is being used, lining it can be awkward but you can nowadays buy pre-cut shapes for this. For fruit cakes use double-thickness lining also remember to cover the top with paper this can benefit in ways to prevent the burning of the cakes surface.

Measuring. Always follow the exact measurements on the recipe. If you cake is going to be bigger or smaller, then of course you can alter it accordingly but be sure that the changes are all equal. Bare in mind that your cooking times will alter when using different volumes of batter.

Cake recipe ingredients must be kept at room temperature, the butter especially (you need immense elbow grease if you try beating it straight from the fridge).

At the time you add batter into the flour, sift, about 10cm from the bowl; by doing this cake making technique, you can reduce your air or lumps that can go into the mix.

Consistency of Dropping. This means, As you scoop the batter by tipping your spoon when pouring it out, and you'll find the mixture to drop off slowly. Now don't worry if the batter doesn't move. Thin it my applying a bit of milk. If on the other hand it's to runny All you need to do is sift with flour.

Making sure your Easy Cake Recipe is Done Whatever you do don't rely to heavily on the times your given. Always check at least 15 minutes before the end by probing the centre of the cake with a knife, pushing well inside the middle of the cake. It's done if it comes out clean, if it's soggy, give it 5 minutes more and check again.

Decorating the cake. Be certain to allow your cake to cool down before applying icing. The creation of the easy cake recipe a whole lot easier by leaving out the icing/frosting and you may simply dust the cake with icing (powdered) sugar instead.
