So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Importance of Recognizing Achievements in Different Forms

By Greg Pierce

A trophy is a symbolic representation of an achievement, a proof of merit, winning, promotion, legacy and sometimes responsibility to uphold a standard, a tradition or a title. A trophy may vary according to the elements it is made of, the size, the design and the activity or event why such kind of trophy is awarded. The size and the composition such as gold, silver or bronze is dependent on the degree or order of importance of the awardees. Gold is usually given to the person who deserves the best while the bronze goes to the third in place and the silver to the second.

Trophies have evolved in terms of design and composition over the years. Designers of trophies have replaced the more expensive elements such as gold and silver into other alternatives such as crystal-based elements, gemstones, mineral stones, metals, tin sheets, wood carvings and among others. Besides, it's not the monetary value of the trophy that counts but rather, the pride and glory that it represents.

The design of the award usually depends on the nature of the competition. Generally, sporting events pattern their trophies to the characteristics that the sports represent such that football, basketball, cricket cups and the likes have trophies that are designed to look like giant cups with a base where the winning players' names are written. An example of it is the World Cup of the FIFA.

The Crystal Eagle Award, shaped into a crystal eagle, is bestowed to a leader of a country worthy for leading the nation to an extraordinary honor, exceptional courage and for being the representative of the people is an award bestowed upon the people of a certain country who, despite many atrocities and limitations that their country have, continue to strive to effect for fundamental changes to their government for the benefit of all.

On the other hand, beauty pageants have their own distinct design of a trophy in the form of a crown. One of the crowns designed by Mikimoto is the Miss Universe crown which is studded with hundreds of diamonds of almost 30 carat, over a hundred pieces of South Sea and Akoya pearls. Since the first pageant in the 1960's until today, the key people that run the organization are guided by a creed to choose only the rightful winner who truly embodies a persona of goodwill.

All these things really encourage and inspire other people to strive for brilliance.
