So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Tips For Shopping for More Nutritious Food Items In Your Grocery Store

Have trouble sticking to your list when cruising the aisles of the grocery store? You are not alone. Most shoppers are tempted numerous times while grocery shopping, and many end up buying junk food because they are stressed from the number of decisions they are forced to make and are easily tempted by the junk food offers. To combat this, here are a few helpful tips to keep you buying healthy, affordable foods at the grocery store.

Don't shop on an empty stomach. This is the number one reason most people buy junk food and stray from their list. When you are hungry, your body's instinct tells you to find fattening food fast. Now that we have developed past the foraging stage, we need to suppress that urge, knowing that the fattening foods we find now are not nearly as healthy as the food our instincts are calling for. Instead, fill your body with healthy food before you go grocery shopping to keep it from getting desperate.

Opt for canned foods packed in water instead of oil or sugary syrup.

Stay away from food items that contain hydrogenated fat. Even when partially hydrogenated, this is a very unhealthy form of fat that is causing major health concerns. Stick to cold pressed oils or even better, fresh foods that are naturally high in fat such as seeds, nuts and avocados.

To make sure you get enough calcium, especially if you are not a milk drinker, buy some calcium fortified orange juice, some dark leafy greens, and maybe even a naturally sourced calcium supplement.

Start eating more melons. Cantaloupe is very low in calories and provides you with plenty of vitamin c and beta carotene. Make sure that you eat melon by itself though to prevent gas.

Following these simple tips you will be able to follow your grocery list more closely and eat healthier as a result. Luckily, there are many tasty healthy foods available in most grocery stores. All you have to do is get past the junk food temptations.
