So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Easy and Affordable Decorating Ideas

By Luis Mendez

Sometimes it seems like the only rule to home decorating is "the more expensive, the better your taste." It is easy to get carried away with your "vision" for your home and forget to watch your spending. Try not to worry too much if you do not have a lot of money available for your decorating project-you can still have a beautiful home! It is absolutely possible to create a beautiful home without spending everything in your bank account.

Put your furniture in new places Believe it or not sometimes decorating your home (or redecorating your home) could be as easy as putting your existing furniture into new positions. Furniture arrangement suggestions and hints can be found everywhere-start at the library and see what you can find! There is no rule that says a couch needs to make physical contact with a wall-move it closer to the center of the room. Save floor space by putting your bed in the corner of the room. Put the spotlight on something besides the television. Let your cookery serve as kitchen decoration instead of hiding it away. Moving things to new spaces is usually all it takes to make an entirely new look.

Don't be scared to check the dumpster! Do you often see people moving into and out of your area of town? Check out the curbsides and dumpsters in these neighborhoods often. At moving time a lot of people start to get desperate and will often throw away beautiful and barely used things to save themselves some packing time. Don't turn up your nose, it is possible to furnish your whole apartment using only the things that you "find" during a trip around the neighborhood. Don't forget to double check that your "found" item is actually yours to find. Quickly checking with the homeowners is all you need to do.

The internet is great for decorators. The internet is full of independent artists, photographers and creators who are trying to sell their work. Etsy is a very popular website for artists who want to sell their work and for people who are trying to decorate their homes inexepensively. Many artists upload their work for free to community sites like Flickr where you can look through their portfolios for free. Some artists build their websites that they use to sell their work. There are great and affordable deals all over the world wide web-you don't have to stay with the traditional sites like Ebay or Amazon.

Remember to pace yourself when you are decorating. Just because a piece of art is expensive doesn't mean that it is better than something else. Be careful when you start looking through galleries and exhibits. Remember to plan around the decorations you already have when you begin your project. Take a look around-you probably already own a bunch of great pieces! Tap in to your inner artist! If you have an old watering pot you can turn it into a centerpiece! Look at what you have around you and what you want to accomplish and then look for ways to cut the cost of that project in half.
