So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Tips for Home Decorating

By Johnny Dante

Decorating your home yourself can save you a huge amount of money by no longer needing to pay workmen to do the job for you. However, it can take time to get the job done properly so you'll need to make sure you can commit the right amount of time. Also, if you've never done any decorating you'll need to have the time to learn some techniques and also to buy the appropriate tools. Decorating success is all about the preparation, so this article goes through a few basic things to get you started.

Where to Start - One of the hardest things to know is where to start your work. If you're planning on doing a complete overhaul of your home, it's a really good idea to carefully think about an appropriate starting point. It could be a good idea to plan to do the work room by room, starting with a room that isn't used too much. It's much more beneficial to have a logical plan like this.

Colour Schemes - Choosing the correct colour scheme for your home is a vital step towards decorating success. If this is your first DIY project, it might be a good idea to keep things simple and stick to a limited choice of neutral colours. This could also save you some money as it allows you to buy your paint in bulk. Always make sure you bring home samples of paint to check out which colours suit your home best.

Find a Style - If you're decorating a new home then you will probably want to create a certain style that sets an aura and tone around your home. If you're clueless about designing a house, then it may be an idea to seek out a professional designer. In addition if you can't afford the services of a professional decorator then usually they will carry out a one-time consultation and help you discover your style. If you're looking to add a modern vibe rather than create your own individual style then you could always look through interior design magazines or search online.

Accessories - No home is complete without a range of accessories to furnish the room. The trick here is not to fill the room with junk and clutter. A few small items here and there are usually enough, and always start by looking for practical items such as candle holders and vases. Plant life and flowers can add a great dynamic to the home and it's well worth spending some money on this to quickly cheer a room up.

DIY on a Budget - Perhaps you are on a really tight budget and are worried about the costs mounting up. Well, you've got every reason to be concerned as decorating can get expensive. Try looking out for sales at your local DIY store and buy everything you need when it's at it's discounted rate. There are always places you can pick up a great second hand bargain when looking for furniture; just keep your eyes peeled and start hunting for those great deals!
